Wow- another product name hurt by someone who doesn't know how to use the equipment (like DVD players taken back to stores because everyone was too tall).
The subwoofer setting on this unit works fine- it just must be told WHAT to send to the sub. The sub output send anything in the dedicated LFE track of DD 5.1 recorded material- in addition, if you have any (or all) of your speakers (front, center, rear)- set to SMALL (meaning they won't reproduce bass frequencies)- the reciever automatically routes all the low bass information to the subwoofer. At the point when any speaker is set to SMALL- you can then sepecify the cross over frewquency (the band in which is the deviding point- anything lower will be sent to the subwoofer).

This unit is a great entry level DD reciever. If you want to be introduced into home theater and don't want to sell your children to do so- consider this unit. Flexible, pretty easy to use if you read the instructions and experiment, and definately affordable (I got mine for $399 close-out). My only gripe is that the tuner (even with a good antenna) isn't extremely sensitive.

Again- good unit for those looking to dive into the Home Theater experience (having a LD or DVD with digital output is also required). It definately hooked me!!

Well, nothing that i can tell

Aight look,
Anyone that does not like this reciever (for the money) is probably just an idiot. I am 16 years old, and have an incredible HT in my room, i figured out all of the functions and have everything working fine, including my sub. And about the power rating, my speakers are rated at 120W nominal and i can push that.... I love this reciever hooked up optically to my JVC DVD player... My dad asks to use my reciever when he watches DVDs on our Big screen. the sound is incredible if you know how to use it....
