I upgraded to this model after several years of faithful service from my VSX 411. The big upside to this entry to mid level AVR is that it handles all of the newer surround formats ( True DD/ DTS HD ) and is able to support 7.1 with extra amps to power those rear speakers. This AVR is no center piece of conversation as it has no flashing lights are large display telling you what is going on, but it does get the job done neverless. One other bounes is the bluetooth capable input ( need bluetooth adapter, sold as extra), so all you peole that carry you music catalog on you Iphone or other bluetooth enable device you can sync up and enjoy. Reading the manual is a must if your not familiar with Pioneer products for this AVR does not have the auto room setup, but at this price and an entry level unit who does. If your looking to setup a bedroom or second HT in your house this AVR may have all you need.
