Strength:

Power / Easy of use / Clean sound

Weakness:

None I can find

Good power and very clean sound. I listen to classical and newage and the TX-SR501 brings out the best in both. I do not believe there is a better unit at the $300 range. In fact I amost bought the Onkyo TX-SR601 for $499 but the extra features were not something I really needed and the sound of the TX-SR501 was just as good so I saved my $$$.

Strength:

At $300.00, everything about this receiver is strong!! Compare! Compare!! easy to use remote & controls!!!

Weakness:

I could find no weakness in use or sound in the performance of this receiver!

After comparing the tx-sr501 with other receivers costing about $1000.00 each, I don't believe you could find a day & night difference in sonics & performance, unless you start to pay more than 4 times the cost in receivers & speakers, respectivley!! What a steal!!!!!!!!!!!!

we compared it to 3 receivers costing about $1000.00 each! The tx-sr501 performed as well, with punchy, agressive & detailed sonics, with presence & envelopment in music & movies!!denon, yamaha & pioneer receivers & psb speakers were used.

Strength:

VALUE!!

Weakness:

Remote - not learning

The best value on the market, period. I wanted to upgrade to 6.1, so I looked at several models from Denon (my old receiver), Onkyo, Yamaha, Rotel, and several others. For the price, the Onkyo is untouchable. For under $300, you get 6 channels of power (the 65 watts listed is plenty to drive even large speakers - I am using Paradigm towers up front and haven't heard as much as a huff from the amp), all the current 6.1 decoding (DD-EX, DTS-ES, DPLII), enough inputs for most people, and Onkyo quality. My only complaint is the remote.

Strength:

POWERFUL!!! Nice clean sound.

Weakness:

NONE!!!!

Well got this hooked it up sounds great don't let the 65 watts fool you because it is really like 95 watts because of the high current amp. It has lots of great features and listening modes.
