Strength:

Easy set-up. A wall of natural sound. CD's or DVD's sound true. LP's come to life.

Weakness:

Come on!

Bloomin' beauty, I say! I will echo the sentiments of my Aussie friend by saying this piece of audio equipment is crazy good for the money. Built like a brick s#%t house, easy set up, a wealth of connection possiblities, you name it, it's most likely got it. Don't even try to demo anything close to it's price range because you WON'T find anything close to comparable. DVD's, cd's, all sound natural. No coloring at all. Has really brought to life some lp's that I thought had seen better days. If you are in the market for an A/V receiver, save some time and pick this bugga' up. Hell, with the money you save you can buy mum something perty!

Strength:

Fab Wall of Sound. Great warmth and depth. Excellent clarity and tightness. Bags of Volume. Solid Construction and Weighty. Connections in abundance. Great Binding Posts. Sounds Real Good.

Weakness:

None at this price range. Remote seems a little large at first but it's size diminishes after some getting used to. Is easy to use and well laid out. Has all the relevant controls you'd require.

G'day All!! Just had to share my views on this fab site with y'all. Got the Marantz SR4300 at a fantastic price (in Oz Dollars of course) at a pal's workplace together with the Marantz DV4300 DVD Player (AUD$580.00). The SR4300 is rated at 80 watts per channel into 6 ohms and this 6.1 receiver just rocks! Movies sound true to form and music via my Technics 1210 MkII Turntables, Pioneer CDR, Nakamichi & Marantz Tape Decks, Denon CD Mixer and Vestax Mixing Console have come to life. Um, Yes, I'm a club DJ who plays Underground and Tribal House, and who does like to listen to all genres of music from the 70's and up, and appreciates good sound which is a rarity in many applications nowadays - it should be made a crime. This unit definitely puts the other main players in the field (I'll leave you to decipher who they are coz I'm a gentleman) which cost more than twice of the cost of the Marantz to shame. Up to an extent of plain roguerie even. It's solid build, weight, ease of operation and plain good chunky looks (in a sexy kinda way) is just exemplary. Features galore for the buck and sound that'll rock yer granny, do take the time to audition this piece of equipment at the very least. IMHO.

Auditioned the Main Players in the field and no one comes close, IMHO.

Weakness:

Remote could be better No on-screen menu

Having been on the lookout for a surround amp for a while, I finally had enough spare cash to seriously think about buying one. I wasn't looking for anything special, just a budget surround amp. Initially I demoed the pansonic SAHE7 and the Marantz SR-4200. The SAHE7 was shocking, especially with music. The SR-4200 however was superb. I was ready to part with my hard earned cash when I noticed the 4300 sitting in the corner. It was slightly over my budget but it turned out to be the best bit of debt that I have gotten myself into. Although not sounding much compared to other amps of similar price, the 6x80W amps will produce more than enough sound to fill even the largest of living rooms. Sound quality for movies is superb with clear chanel separation, oodles of bass and clear dialogue. The additional surround channel (it is a 6.1 channnel amp!) added more than I thought it would to the surround experience. Sound quality for music is also superb. Its not quite up to the standard of my Pioneer A400 stero amp but as the Marantz has pre amp outs for all channels, I can still use my existing amp for listening to music. This should not be taken as sound quality is poor - I would be more than satified with it if I did not already have the Pioneer. The 4300 has more sockets at the rear than I will ever use and also features chunky binding posts compared to the tacky clips as found on some models. Overall, it is a superbly built and well speced unit. If you are thinking of getting in to home cinema then this amp is a perfect choice.
