Weird choice for a so called audiophile to buy a receiver instead of "separates". But at some times one have to squeeze the best sound from a very tight budget. The KR-V7080 lacks only one major thing and that is good
separation between signal sources. If for instance you're playing a CD and
you change the input selector from CD to PHONO (any unconnected input will do)
and you turn up the volume you can hear the CD playing in the background. I do
not like this but I can live with it specially after I've tried the same thing
with a Yamaha receiver (selling for 3250Cnd$)and it did exactly the same thing
Overall this Kenwood sounds round and with the right combination of speakers
(I found that to be Polk RT3 + Polk PSW50 Sub - at least for my money)you can play the Domingo-Carreras-Pavarotti CD, close your eyes and pinpoint the location of each of those three. That and an overall good behavior across the entire frequency range make me think that the KR-V7080 is a good choice as the center of a moderately priced system.

I just purchased a KR V6080 for a very inexpensive price ($100) and I have to say that I am extremely impressed with it's sound quality and features!

Just replaced my old pioneer receiver with KR V7080 (120x3,30x2). Comes with Pro-Logic, 3 DSP and 2 Stereo mode with SUB lineout. Very simple and functional remote control with macro set-up code for VCR, TV and Cable. Superb allround audio reproduction for music and movie!. Retails at $NZ799.00 this part of the hemisphere.

IT WAS ALRIGHT BUT IT DID NOT LAST VERY LONG IT FELL APART, BUT IF YOU WANT A STERO THAT WILL BE GOOD FOR A WHILE AND THEN FALLS APART WELL YOU WILL SURE LIKE THIS ONE BECAUSE IT IS GOOD AT FIRST THEN IT SUCKS SO MY ADVICE IS TO BUY THIS AND THEN SELL IT AFTER ABOUT TWO YEARS BECAUSE IT STATS TO FALL APART AFTER THEN SO GET RID OF IT ON SOME SUCKER

I have been using a Kenwood KR-V8080 for a couple of month. I replaced my aging NAD tuner and Amp with the Kenwood. I am very, very pleased with the performance of this receiver. I have 4 Wharfedale Diamond 6R's in the corners and a JBL 10" G-SUB for drivers. There is nothing at all that I can say that is not in high favor of this system, particularly the receiver. It even sound great with a Pro Logic movie....very realistic and un-colored when playing jazz or classical. The tuner does a good job in the selectivity and sensitivity areas as well

Strength:

No Problems at all, Low THD, Cheap (for me)

Weakness:

Not Dolby Digital or DTS but hey I bought it 4 years ago.

Ok, I've had this Receiver for over 4 years now... bought it at the military postal exchange for 125 bucks on an open box closeout deal. I've NEVER had any problems at all. I've used Definitive Technologies Speakers with it for the past 2 years. Celcius x 2 fronts, BP2X x 2 rear, PF15 sub, P-100 center. I ditched all but the Celcius fronts and use it as a stereo receiver. Maybe its the speakers but the setup CRANKS! (and these are small bookshelf types) It has a low THD in stereo. Its not the worlds best but makes a great little back up receiver.

I've always been a car audio freak.. I entered the realm of home audio just last week with the purchase of a used 7080 receiver.. For the price paid, I really couldn't ask for more. Nice, clean output, lots of adjustment options (DSP is sweet!). I still have yet to connect this to a hifi VCR and enjoy a good surround movie in prologic (independence day?) but I expect it to kick ass as well. But for what I've heard pump through it, for $140, its one of the best sound investments I've ever made.

I just replaced my 20-year old Sanyo 55-watt receiver with a Kenwood KR-V7080 which pumps out 100 watts to the front/center channels and 30 watts to the rear channels. Outstanding! It shows a small part of its capabilities at low volumes where it maintains excellent sound quality. Comes with Dolby Pro Logic, surround sound, very convenient remote control, a separate subwoofer output, and 3 DSP settings to choose from. I recommend this one. Purchased for $299.00 at large electronics franchise.
