Strength:
Pretty easy to set up good manual, good remote, You can set up your system from the remote or the reciever itself, Lots of Audio inputs
Weakness:
Even though I can connect my DVD, TV, a viewing and recording VCR another Video for a game system or camcorder on the front would be nice. The balance setup for surrond sound can be a bit of a hassle, Since the speakers have a maximum decibal differance limit. Overall I Love this system, My DVD's sound amazing the controller is easey enough for any one in my family to watch what ever they want. The self detecting audio input is alos a nice feature when watching TV and DVD as it detects Pro-Logic, The Preset modes are not that great but the ease of use is what I am really happy with as this is my first reciever. It is a very good product but it feels as if it could be a little bit better when fine tuning the surround sound. Similar Products Used: This is my first and only reciever I have ever used. |

Strength:
Tons of features and options. Good power. Everything I need.
Weakness:
Not user-friendly. Remote. Great receiver. Has all the power I need for the small surround system I have. Remote is big and not intuitive. Changing the settings you need to practice the procedure and needs a little something more in the bass. All in all no complaints and would recommend to anyone. Good stuff. Strength:
Superior sound quality, inexpensive, and offers many features.
Weakness:
None so far. The sound quality is extraordinary with crisp, clear sound distinctions. It is an affordable unit loaded with many options. It fulfills all the necessary needs by being equipped with Dolby Pro Logic, Dolby Digital, and DTS. Similar Products Used: Sony receiver |

Strength:
On screen display,.002THD, Good features for the price.
Weakness:
Volume Control Was looking for a DD/DTS receiver in the 300-400 price range. Previously owned a JVC receiver with no problems. Was trying to decide between JVC and Sony model. Went with JVC. Not as many DSP's as Sony but didn't see that as a big issue. Bottom line is sound and this baby has one of the lowest THD ratings you're gonna find not only for movies but music. At the price,$250 shipped from 800.com,it's a great value for a DD/DTS receiver. Mercata and Amazon also have it available. Similar Products Used: JVC,Sony, Pioneer |

Strength:
S-video and no Overloading
Weakness:
Not as many options or inputs, plus the remote aint all that, course you dont buy a reciever for a remote. I am running AR-9's out of the Teac 9100. Audio was okay, but I wanted to utilize an S-video switcher so I decided to upgrade to a Pioneer 509s because of the options. I liked the remote and the quality of the audio, but in certain high bass movies (lost world, Imax super speedway) it would overload. So I returned it and got a Kenwood 407, not as many options, but just as many inputs/outputs. This one lasted longer into the movies before overloading so I decided to return it. The I came accross the JVC 7000 model. Sure it had less inputs and was simpler in features than the other models, but at least it didnt overload. I like the onscreen menu, although the quality of the audio is not as good as the Pioneer it matches or is better than the Teac and the Kenwood. If deciding between any of these four, definatly the JVC is better in amp construction than the Kenwood and Pioneer, although probably the same or better than the TEAC.
