Strength:

i can hear it

Weakness:

it turns on, when i turn it on- and get this ----it turns off ,when i want to turn it off!

i just want to say i was going to upgrade because i am into the thx ultra thing now, until i saw prices for thx ultra receivers...so needless to say i stuck with my jvc 6008v,and i am glad i did..i have had it for years and had not one problem with it,i think it sounds great for what i paid. i am just now hooking up my digital wires to it,for dts...for someone like me who has had this for years and has been using it as analog for many of years-i will get even better sound quality, now that i decided to pay a little more attention to what i already have...ahhh the joys of shopping around your own house:)

Strength:

All the inputs you need and the ability to use optical and digital inputs for devices that have them.

Weakness:

No direct scanning of AM/FM stationd going up or down through the preset stations.

I was given this unit because the previous owner thought it was bad. It seems that the "professional" installer they hired did not know what he was doing. I hooked it up in my home, went over the manual and had it working in less than a couple of hours. It sounds great with my Optimus towers, rear speakers and powered sub woofer. 5.1 on this unis is fantastic. It is very accomodating and has a lot of flexibility to customize it, yet is is easy to use. Very good unit.

Customer Service

Great, When I first attempted to connect the sub woofer, it wouldn't work, but after calling JVC and telling them how I acquired it, they were extremely helpful. We were able to find the problem and get the sub-woofer working in a short time.

Strength:

Simplicity, and reliability. Dont need to tutor the wife or kids for 3 weeks. Cant go wrong letting it run the families knock-around system.

Weakness:

very limited A/V inputs. This reciever simply wasnt made for commandeering a reference level system.

Runs the family room A/V setup on the main level. Adequate sound and performance for your typical family room. Intuitive controls, good LCD display. Easy to read from anywhere in the room but not distracting. Have used it for a couple years with no probs what-so-ever.
