Denon AVR-886 7.1 Channels Receiver A/V Receivers

The AVR-886S is our best value mid-range silver series A/V receiver, with eleven key refinements to improve both sound quality and ease-of-use. The AVR-886S features our new Fast Auto Setup, high-end DSP decoding and seven 100 watt amplifiers with high current output devices. A brand-new DSP is the heart of the AVR-886S, and all surround processing is carried out at 96kHz – resulting in more detailed and better surround fields. All audio DACs are 24bit/192 kHz devices, which deliver cleaner clearer audio.

One definite strength is the power and quality. I had mine connected to Martin Logan electrostatic speakers in a 5.1 configuration and was quite impressed with its ability to give relatively robust power to that caliber of speaker, as well as the rears without skipping a beat. I also like the asthetics of the component as well. The silver finish gives it a high end feel and timeless look. All in all a good receiver that continues to preform almost 15 years later.

My only complaint would be the setup and menus. It is definitely not for a novice to home theater setup. I find it very annoying that whenever I hit the enter button it returns to the previous screen. But that's with all the Denon receivers I've seen.
