Well, I'm sure that I'm not the only one waiting and waiting and waiting to get one of these guys for over a year now, andFINALLY I got mine yesterday...the day after Thanksgiving. Needless to say I wasn't out shopping with the masses yesterday
:) I bought this semi locally at the closest Parasound dealer I could find which was a six hour (yikes!) drive away for $1350.
The piece retails at $1495. As I pulled it out of the box I noticed the incredible build quality of the component that we've all
known to love about parasound equipment. Finally after it was successfully installed into my system I powered up my system.
From the harrier scenes in true lies, to the battles of braveheart, this preamp seemed to extract a new level of detail,
soundwise, from the laser.
The video also proved to be excellent, and the Parasound was quite transparent on both. Nevertheless, there was item I didn't
care for on the parasound. First of all there are 4 video inputs decked out with composite, and Y/C plugs and three audio only
inputs. The only outputs however were the monitor out, stereo out, Pro-logic out, and VIDEO 4 WAS THE ONLY
CONNECTION TO BE GRACED WITH A RECORD LOOP. This is the only flaw I found with the 1500 though. Other
features tended to override this flaw, like the DC trigger (which you could use with Parasound's SCAMP to automatically turn
on you amps or any other component that can be triggered with 15v of electricity. And the ability to adjust your input source
levels, and if your source level is inproperly adjusted a little white spot appears in the top righhand corner of your screen if the
source is overloading. Now the only thing missing from this package is Marantz's RC-2000 Remote!
