Strength:

Learning and advanced code capabilities.

Weakness:

Documentation for product's features are poorly supported by the manufacturer.

This is a review for the Radio Shack 15-1994 6 in 1 remote. I am sorry for placing it here, but after searching for reviews of the Radio Shack remote and finding none, the web page would not let me submit a review of a new product: not sure why. However, there is some logic in placing the review here.
After having purchased an AV Producer 8 remote and a Radio Shack 15-1995 7 in 1 to compare side by side, I realized that they were obviously either made by the same manufacturer, or that one was a blatant copy of the other. The programing was identical; key stroke for key stroke right down to the menu names. This I liked at first because the RS remote was on sale for $49.99, included an IR/RF extender, and in my opinion, was ergonomicly superior to the One For All remote. But my happiness was short lived when I realized that as much as the two remotes had in comon, the RS remote seemed to lack any learning capabilities. What's more, I was not satisfied with the fact that the One For All remote only let me learn to certain "learning Keys" instead of placing the learned commands where they would logically belong.
After finding a site called www.remotecentral.com I found some information on the Radio Shack 15-1994 6 in 1 remote. Apparently it is a clone of the One For All Cinema 7 remote which has been favorably reviewed here. While not documented at all by Radio Shack, it has the ability to learn commands not only to it's so called "Smart Keys", but to virtually every key on the remote. In addition, after programing the remote with the device codes, the remote can be programed with advanced codes (From One For All 7800) to operate certain functions of a device that may not be included in the basic setup. To me this ability makes the difference in being able to truly put away all of my other remotes. The remote also supports Macros and Punch Through for things like having the amp always control the volume, or switching TV/VIDEO channels no matter what mode you're in.
Needless to say, I am now a happy camper. This remote operates every piece of equipment I have: Sony TV, Yamaha DSP 492, Denon AVD 2000, Hitachi VCR, Yamaha CDC 665 CD changer, Toshiba 3109 DVD, and JVC 7100 Dishplayer. It even has "Plug & Power" to power up my NAD 906 amp which has no standby mode. It does require a degree of both learned commands and advanced codes to accomplish this; and you will want to take advantage of both as there is seperate memory for each; ie if you "learn" every command you will run out of memory. While the remote is more expensive than the Cinema 7 ($39.99), I feel it offers some improvements over the One For All in style and ergonomics (just my opinion), and also includes backlighting which is important to me.
I would just like to state for the record that I am in no way affiliated with Radio Shack, and in fact believe their sales people to be woefully lacking in knowledge, and their customer support system to be, shall we say... unsupportive. In fact, to take advantage of the remote's full potential, you will have to seek the information out for yourself. You will find a great deal of what you need at the remotecentral site mentioned earlier. Click on the chat page for Universal Remotes, and search for the RS 15-1994. I think the Cinema 7 is a fine Product, and if you are happy with it I am pleased for you. But I believe to make any gains over this RS remote, one would have to spend a good deal more money, and while for some this may not be an important consideration, for those seeking a very good product at a real world price, I think this remote should hold a place at the top of your list for "Value". But once again, this is just my opinion, and I could be wrong. Sorry to intrude on the One For All site.

I just picked up the Cinema 7 IQ. I was thinking about the A/V producer 8, but decided to give this one a shot. I think its great! I have the Yamaha RXV 795, great receiver, crappy remote! That wheel design is awful for dealing with the DVD player. I had to teach the Cinema 7 my receiver menu key, surround mode key and display key. Everything else is fine. I was able to teach it the zoom function and slow motion functions on the Toshiba 2109 DVD player. Took about an hour to get everything set including the 2 macro keys. The macros are killer, man is that nice to be able to get everything on and off with one keystroke!

5 speaker rating for me for ease of use, and value- only $25. You can’t go wrong!

Strength:

Flexibility, Learning Mode, Advanced Key Programming, Macros, Very Affordable, User FAQ on the net

Weakness:

More memory would be nice, Buttons not backlit, Manual does not teach and actually misinforms

After upgrading my regular TV & VCR setup to a home theater, I ended up with four remotes, one each for new VCR, Receiver, DVD Player and Old TV. My wife called me next morning complaining that xshe could not even figure out how to let my son watch his Blues clues video.

I promply went looking for a universal remote and this was the only one at the store that was reasonably priced but could learn from the other remotes. All other learning remotes were over $50 and some were even $100!!!

I love this little gadget. Nothing else in this price range (except the Radio shack brother of this remote) comes even close. If you need a universal remote and don't want to spend nearly half as much on the remote as some components, get this one, visit the FAQ mentioned below and enjoy marital bliss :)

Highly recommended.

Strength:

Low Price. I've seen them on sale for $16.50 US at Best Buy Stores. This remote fits nicely in the hand, and the thoughtful grouping and layout of buttons makes it easy to use, even in the dark.

Weakness:

The user manual fails to reveal all the great features this remote has. However, there are many sites on the WWW that this information can be found at.

Simply the best purchase I've ever made for my home theater setup. It controls the main functions of every device I have, and did so with no additional programming. With a few advanced codes found on the WWW and thru my own experimenting it also controls the less used but still needed features of every device.

The manual mentions two dedicated MACRO keys that can have any sequence (up to 15) of button presses programmed into them. In fact, almost ALL buttons on this remote can have a macro, learn a function, or take an advanced code. You can even put TWO functions on each button by pressing the SETUP key first to activate the second function.

I have four, ONE BUTTON MACROS that select any media type I want to watch on my system and route it to my amplifier and TV. I have a single macro that simply turns EVERYTHING OFF, when I'm ready to stop watching.

This remote will also control X10 devices, with the use of an X10 IR543 Infr Red transceiver. In my macros the remote will turn OFF or ON and DIM the appropriate LIGHTS for optimum viewing.

Simply put, the POTENTIAL of this remote is what makes it great. ONEforALL makes it a GOOD remote for those not willing to pursue these estra features. Those who own one can make it a GREAT remote by investing a little time and patience with it.

I also own a Philips Pronto, and a very old Gemini Star (4 device) remote. The Pronto was purchased to replace the Gemini that had served well for 10+ years. It's LCD and unique programmability make it well worth the $300ish it cost. My Cinema7 duplicates about 90% of the Pronto's functionality and does it for a tiny fraction of the cost.
