Strength:

good editing machine. Reliable until the year 2000.

Weakness:

broke down due to Sony's proprietary assembly in earlier VCRs

Good VCR with S-video inputs/outputs.
Accurate recording and editing.
Clean freeze frame.
It was running good until January 2000 when it started to die. It's Y2K compliant. The run-down is not related.
The Sony proprietary chassis inside caused the machine to eat tapes, "snowy" recording, and won't play tapes sometimes. It died even before the Sharp VCRs that I had. Probably I used this VCR so much it can't handle it anymore.
Oh well, the repair costed me $85 (whew!) almost good enough to buy a new one. But I decided to stick with this one for its editing capabilities. It can do video inserts, audio inserts, or both. Good enough for now for analog editing until I switch over to digital.
