ok guys lets see wat appens ere,, well i owned a pair of quad electrostatics... with a quad 77 amp,, using a boothroyd stewart cd player.. and the sound was perfect in its respects to my room size , which is only 11 by 11 square... i then was hugely interested in all the hype around this cheap rogers ls55,so i went out and picked up a pair for 80 bucks from an ebay seller. i wasnt amused at the cabinets build quality,, so so pore,, yet wat can one exspect from a cheaper of the range speaker, yet, i had to have a good look inside before listning to them,, the speaker as a whole is total quality,, the bassmids are from the ls 5A,S... WHICH WER ORIGINALLY THE SPEAKER THAT GOT THEM NOTICED BY THE BBC,, WHICH THEN ROGERS DEVELOPED THE LS3/5a.. THE BBC MONITOR.. THE BABIES THAT SELL at almost a grand or more in some places... getn to the tweeter,, the tweeter i must say belongs to kef,, who addapted the tweeter for the ls55s.. obviously thats why its so logicly clear at all spectrums.. right the crossover is of its own,, made to compensate the kef and the rogers drivers pperfectly matched... ok , sat down,, and 4 hours listning to darkside of the moon,,, yes ,, they sure put me on the edge of my seat,, ok ,, the lackings,, bass responce great but wooly boxing,, meaning , shot the cabinets and get some real wood ones built,, ,,ok ,, so thats wat i did,, took the dimensions to a cabinet maker whom built me a pair out of real rosewood,, i got them home,, clothed them out , fitted the components,, and found on the 1st play of the floyd album darkside.. i fell into oblivion,, the out come? i sold the electrostatics,, bought a synergy power amp,, with my quad pre, and my story ends with, 3 words. for the rogers ls55s,, its a classic.

Strength:

Top end Clarity of the Rogers LS55 I cannot fault. Build quality also brilliant. Its like having a different CD collection... (No joke)

Weakness:

Bottom end lacking a little poke for my liking, but thats just me. Nothing else.

Blinding! Well chuffed! I never anticipated acquiring a set of speakers like these, and for only $238.00 Brand New too. Shame Rogers have gone under, thats all I can say.

I recently bought a pair of Rogers LS 55. I bought a pair of JMLab Symbol 12 first but those were totally allergic to walls. Since my listening room could fit in my pockets I had to find a replacement. Enter the LS55. Well... If you don't like the "British Sound" stay away from those. They're quite polite with the usual high from Rogers. I really like those LS2a/2...So did the bastard who stole them from my house but anyway... The bass is okay but don't expect anything astonishing at moderate volume. You'll need a powerful amp to drive those so they can do justice to a good recording. My little Cabridge Audio A1 with it's 30 W is not the best thing to have with those. The lateral image is quite good but the "3d depth" ain't really there. The good thing with those speakers is that the closer to the wall they are, the better they sound so there perfect for small rooms. So overall it's a nice speaker and with the right amp you'll be able to have a nice result. It is sad that these speaker are extremely plain looking, being only available with that dreaded black ash vinyl! So an okay speaker but I'm pretty sure you can have better for your money (check out those nice NHT 1.5).

Strength:

Deliverance of power and base.

Weakness:

It's look, unless you leave the speaker covers off.

These speakers kick arse in terms of power and base.
If you only have a 30watt amp they will sound !@#%$#%#.(above calls himself an enthusiast) Get a 150w.p.c Amp!
My old man has some and i have had trouble finding better ones (for price as well) in terms of overall depth in base and loudness without distortion.
These babys are bulit for dance, rock and reggae so get 200 squids out and go and buy some.
My other choice would be the AE120'S cos they are big they look the mutts nuts and will tear you in half with bass.
