Strength:

Portable (I'll explain).

Weakness:

None

Well, I must say that I was not sure what this product did if anything when I first plugged it in. What it took was having it in my system for a couple weeks. When I unplugged it, I then noticed how the sound went down hill without it. This thing will reduce the glare in your system, even if you are already using a good power conditioner. I have a Vansevers Reference 83 which is an excellent product. The BC-86 Noise Hound made it even better. This thing is also portable. I have a smaller system in my den/home office. It is easy for me to unplug it, and take it with me upstairs, so the smaller system enjoys the same treatment when I am listening there. I guess you could be another one, but for me this works.
The only way I know of getting one new is through Canadian Audio Outlet "Simply Music". They auction these off on the Audio website "AudiogoN.com"

Strength:

Significant improvement in the sound for low investment

Weakness:

Haven't found any yet

I was quite skeptical when I first saw this product, but the price was reasonable, and the theory made sense, so I tried one. They call it a "parallel" line conditioner, as in it plugs into an AC outlet, but the equipment does not actually connect to it. I use an API Power Wedge that all of my components are plugged into, except for the amplifier. I have found that all three amps that I have had preferred to be plugged directly into the wall, but that's another review....

Anyway, I plugged in this NoiseHound thing, and was surprised at the differenct it made. The change in the highs is what caught my attention first. It was bizzare, but there was more detail in the highs, yet they were smoother at the same time. At first I didn't know what to make of this. Most things I have tried tended to either add detail to the highs (ex. silver interconnects) OR smooth them out (ex. Cardas interconnects), but I had never experienced both of these improvements to be made by the same component. After listening for a while, it became obvious to me that the highs were simply "cleaner". Once again, I had previously thought that "cleaner" meant "crisper" or more detailed. Instead, I was now hearing cymbals sound more metallic, and less like an "shhhhhh" sound. Also, I noticed a dramatic improvement in the sense of space between the insturments, and more depth to the stage. I had been thinking about changing my speakers to look for more soundstage aspects, but this thing convinced me that I had made the right choice with my speakers after all.

The upper midrange of my system also improved quite noticeably. It had a lot less "bite" on high pitched female vocals, which I had always thought was my power amp, because it is solid state and several people had told me that I needed a tube amp. I still might try a tube amp, but the Noise Hound made my solid state amp sound more like what I was looking for.

The weirdest thing I noticed was the sound of my system versus time of the day !! Many times in the past, I had noticed that the system sounded a lot better during late night listening sessions, compared to early evenings. I had attributed this to psycho-acoustics, thinking that I must just be more "relaxed" late at night. The Noise Hound has convinced me that I was indeed hearing better performance at night, because now my system sounds like that all the time! Later, the dealer told me that many of his customers had mentioned better sound at night, and he attributes it to cleaner power. This makes perfect sense now, since the Noise hound is supposed to clean up the power....

Overall, this has been the most effective "tweak" I have tried, and less money than some of them too. Now, if I could just get another one next time they list them..... I have no idea why, but they only seem to make a few of these at a time.

My current system is:
Accuphase DP-55 CD player
Krell KAV-300i integrated
B&W Matrix 802 speakers
Atlantis Rack
API Power Wedge
Black Diamond cones

Strength:

More refined sound and smoothness in the top end. Sound is more three dimensional and better definition in the bass.

Weakness:

No product literature.

Best treak for sound ever. I agree with the previous reviews anyone looking for a new equipment should try this thing out first.

I wonder what it will do if I plug 2 of them in the same line.
