from SE Florida Audio store Summary: I was not convinced that cables would really sound different. I brought in my 12 gauge $1 a foot speaker cable and put it against the Quartet on a system I could not afford. The difference in sound was not subtle or sublime, but very audible. I purchased it (two 15 foot lengths) and had it wired "two wire", not biwire, to make it about 14 gauge. I was very pleased at the sound of my system after this installation.
I have since upgraded to Acurus R11 preamp and A100 amp, and Vandersteen 2ce Signature speakers, and now use the Quartet wired biwire for the Vandersteens. Sound is excellent. I think Quartet is an excellet wire.
The dealer says he will give me about full purchase price of the Quartet back if I want to upgrade to Straightwire Octet wire. I don't think I will do this for quite a while, as the Quartet is very satisfactory.
Strengths: Good construction. Good sound. Reasonable price. Can trade it in for Straightwire upgrade product. Weaknesses: 14 gauge construction. Would prefer 12 gauge. Similar Products Used: Monster cable.
