Summary:
In response to the last reviewer, the Revel sub 15 (not the B-15) MSRP is anywhere $2500 to $3200 each! The sub has raised its price over the year, but I think it discontinued. The LE-1 amp that can drive the two Revel 15 goes for about $6000. Yes, 6000K! All together, two subs and an amp would mount up to about 11K! I don't think the Revel complete set up would able to match with the HGS 18 as I agree with the last viewer. In fact, if I remember correctly there was review by Stereophile and the Velodyne F1800R (the older of HGS 18) was very comparable to Revel! This Revel is nice but for the money the HGS is the way to go.

I have heard this sub linked up with the Revel series speakers and it souned fine. However, the last reviewer did the Revel sub a great in justice when he tried to compare it to the HGS 18. Iown this sub and to compare a $3400 sub that has 1250 to 3400 watts of power to a grand++ sub is wrong.

Summary:
This is a beautiful subwoofer, but beauty is only skin deep! Hooked up with a Bryston amp since could not get the LE-1 amp, a big mistake! Trouble with find a right crossover and integration with the speakers. Further, it sounds no better than a Velodyne HGS 18 or the REL Stadium III, in fact the velodyne has better slam than the Revel 15 and integrated with the speakers better as well. The REL on the other hand does not have the slame like the HGS 18 but bass extension is incredible. I figure that the reason the average performance of the Revel 15 is because the lack of the LE-1 amp. I don't think people realize how crucial the setting up of the subwoofer is until I personally experienced it. Without the LE-1 amp and its software, it is difficult to match with the speakers. If you get a great deal on the sub, which is about 1K, and match up with a good amp like a Bryston, it still is a average performer for the money. I think the Velodyne or the REL or the Revel B15 is a much better deal than the Revel 15 with an exteral amp and crossover. Overall a beautiful sub but only skin deep!

Summary:
This sub is going through a complete new model coming soon, so you can find the current one on clearance out there for about $1K a piece. The new sub will have a better amp, more reliable, and will be builted in the sub rather than separately. The LE-1 amp that is supposed to come with the Revel sub 15 has had problems with reliability and they have stopped production. I don't recommend buying this sub without the LE-1 amp that comes with the sub as Stereophile has recommended that the sub 15 is not made to use with a regular amp. The reason is that the LE-1 amp has a crucial setting up solfware that will allow you to match with your speakers so that they will blend well together. All good subs have some forms or ways to blend with your speakers. This is very important otherwise you will be hearing where the sub comes from, distorting your sound stage. Second, two seems to work better with two than one. Revel sub 15 is very expensive and you can do better with the Revel B-15. Don't make the same mistake I made with buying one sub without the LE-1, you will regret spending the money.
