Price Paid:  $10350.00 from New music

Summary:
I am an acoustic music lover, especially classical music and also some pop ,rock jazz and folk music.
Proac D38 associated with high quality electronics bring exactly the same feeling and emotion than those experienced during live concert . Those speakers upgrade almost indefinitely ( read get always more closer to live music) with the upgrade of the other elements of your gear. Mine consists of CD Audio Aero Capitole as source, the Leben RS 28CX as preamp , the Leben CS 660P as amplifier and Cardas Golden Cross as speaker and interconnect cables. I have listen to many other prestigious speakers as B&W 801, 800D and Signature Diamond, Avalons, Focus Audio FP90 and Master 3, and none of them sounded to my ears as the music I hear during live concert .The D80 are sounding more bright than the D38 but with less body.
Associated with the right gear the D38's give you an ample sound with a sense of presence as “you are there”, with a natural wide and deep soundstage, plenty of air around the musicians and the ambiance of the concert hall where they are playing. The timbres of the intruments and the voices are increadibly realist. They are rich and diversified and have a rich inner texture as in real live concert. The mids, the highs and the bass are fully integrated and gives you this sensation of coherene and fullness. The bass are profound and are really singing. The Proacs D38 can also rock and make you want to dance. The music coming from those speakers are washing you over with beauty and emotion.

Strengths:
Exceptionnal realistic timbres, smooth and ample sound with wide and deep soundstage, excellent dynamics transmiting all the nuances and musical expression of the musicians and the music. They are fatiguing free and make you want to listen to music for hours

Weaknesses:
To my ears there are no weaknesses except that the Proacs D38 as all other Proac speakers require to be associated with high quality amplifiers, sources and good cables to sound and sing at their best.

Price Paid:  $10000.00 from Local dealer

Summary:
The best speakers I have heard in this price range. I used to own the B&W 600 series and wanted to upgrade to something better. I compared the D38 D25, B&W 804s and the 803s befor deciding on these. The B&W are great speakers but it lacks the musical aspect of music and is very detailed, which at first sounds very good but after about one hour of listning your get tired of it, at least for me.
There was no doubt in my mind that I wanted the Proac. I only needed to decided if I shoud get the D25 or D38. At the end I decided to spend a little extra and got the one I like the most. The D38 had a better sound stage compared to the D25. It fills up the room very nicely and to my ear sounds a little more smoth as compared to the D25.

Strengths:
Extremely musical spealer. Makes you want to listen to music.
Very Smoth mids and highs.
Absolutly no listnening fatigue.
Soundsate is very good. My rooms fills up completly.
The best speakers if you want to listen to the piano music.

Weaknesses:
Obviously I can not find any weekness. But just a note to prospective buyer to not put these speakers, or any speakers of this size, in a small room. In a small room and depending on the rest of your system, these speakers could sound a little heav on the bass.
