Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $16000.00 from audiosalon, glasgow

Summary:
This speaker is capable of doing justice to some of the best front end, cables & amplification available today costing many times more. The soundstage, transparency, coherence, detail & slam from this 3-way 6-coned speaker is a wonder, especially from a conventional box design. Midrange is reference quality for cone design and the high frequencies very detailed & relaxed. The D100 is a major player with the big boys. I listen in a 28 x12 foot room, which is likley the minimum size for such a pair of monoliths. Again, I am amazed at the extreme transparency of the D100s & the incredible accuracy of the soundstage from this very conventional box design. The 4 ATC cones are over £330 each! The new volt woofers seem much faster & more articulate than the old scanspeak ones.
Amazingly, I don't miss the amazing ribbon tweeter of the future 2s. Even the plasma tweeter of the acapella high violon is not seriously missed, even though the HF from this speaker is in a class of its own.

Strengths:
Best speaker that proac have made to date by far & very likely the best British speaker currently in production. Dark ebony finish equisite & a wonder to behold. New port design makes room positioning much less critical.

Weaknesses:
Crates/boxes are the size of 2 telephone kiosks. Take 6 months to break in, maybe a year for final 10% break in at 2-3 hours per day.

Proac Future 2, revel salon, acapella high violon, proac 3.8, proac 2.5

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
It only takes a few seconds of your favourite disc to be bowled over by this speaker.Bass billows from the speakers in an almost palpable sense while the midrange is focused and natural with a sweet unfatiguing treble.
They are also very dynamic and come closer to recreating the sound of live music than any other speakers I have listened to.
Music becomes fresh, exciting and engrossing -you forget it's hi-fi.
Don't be put off by their size.Their footprint is not excessive -all you are losing is airspace above the floor and who wants to put stuff on top of their speakers anyway? Make sure your floor is strong enough to support 131kg though!
Expensive -yes but should give a lifetime of pleasure so good value in the long run

Strengths:
Natural
Transparent
Unfatiguing
Dynamic
Awesome
Solid lifelike imagery
Great soundstage and depth

Weaknesses:
Plinths are vulnerable to Hoover damage-some metal reinforcements would be good.
Will want to upgrade the rest of the chain to get the best from them

Marantz MA-9S2 Reference Series Power Amplifiers Review

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

A new driver from Lowther is real news. A new five inch driver is even rarer news, so it was with great anticipation that I waited on this pair of speakers to arrive.

Aune Mini Headphone DAC User Review

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
