Review 1 of 9
Price Paid:
$1000.00
from Audiogon Summary: This review is for the original 750's not the signatures. I finally decided to give these speakers a shot after testing various other similarly priced products from B&W, Paradigm, PSB, and Klipsch among others. I'm glad I did as none of them touched what the 750's brought to the table at the under $1500 market. The highs are silky smooth, tight punchy bass, and a lush midrange gave them the best balance of all that I tested. Also these speakers just beg to be driven to loud levels. Whereas most speakers highs could become too bright when played loud, these speakers stay smooth well into volumes most would consider obscenely loud but are just perfect for my listening habits. All together a great product by av123, I would be hard pressed to find anything else I could want in a speaker at this price point. Strengths: -Loves to be played loud!!
-Absolutely Gorgeous, these things look like they should cost 5k minimum.
-Vifa tweeter is never harsh
-An absolute steal for the price Weaknesses: -Sound best with gobs of clean power, I use a marantz SR6300 with them and certainly wouldn't want to go with anything less and many times wish I had much more as I feel I am cheating myself of what the 750's are capable of.
-They can be a bit tipsy on carpet without the risers which are an additional $150.
-Your friends who spent way more for lesser equipment may not speak to you for awhile..... Similar Products Used: Paradigm Studio 60

Review 2 of 9
Price Paid:
$1400.00
from av123.com Summary: The speaker is an eye catcher that has a very 'different' sound. It has some clarity, but something is not right above ~ 500Hz. There is a noticeable and annoying dip in the soundfield as well as uncontrolled responses at high volume levels. Dialogue sounds like it is coming from behind the wall. When the gain is increased to meet acceptable amounts of clarity, the midbass drowns the listener out. Overpowering and distracting when attempting to enjoy a nonexistant upper sound spectrum.
Response curves look like bad ski slopes from 500Hz to 20kHz.
Most points taken off for poor level matching across the soundstage. Strengths: Good midbass at moderate levels.
Has a marketed WOW factor.
they sold fast on audiogon. Weaknesses: Incomplete soundfield. Poor performance at lower volume levels. Panning with RSC200 is poor. Bass is uncontrolled at acceptable levels of HT performance and becomes a distraction. poor quality control. two drivers were not operating on first delivery. small splits in the finish on second delivery. i'd be scared to own past warranty times. Review 3 of 9
Price Paid:
$1400.00
from AV123.com Summary: After months of research looking and auditioning many different speakers at local dealers, I saw an add for the Rockets on Audiorevolution.com. I then read the review for the Rockets on the Audiorevolution.com website, it made me very curious. So I then went to the AV123.com and spent a few months just reading literally everything ever posted in the forums there.
I then decided to take the leap and purchase the #2 Rocket HT system. Doubt immediately ensued, because no matter how good anyone else says it may be, you could still not like it. After receiving the package though and opening it up I was amazed at how good it all looked. I had been at many, many local dealers and looked at speakers well beyond my price range and felt as though these looked just as good if not better than most of those other really high priced speakers.
Something that made buying these speaker easier is the fact the person behind them was a co-founder and designer at Genesis Loudspeakers, and just all of his other knowledge and background in audio and electronics. I figure if Genesis use to make $135,000 speakers, how bad could the Rockets be?
They are GREAT! The Sig 750's can handle movies with vigor, detail, and slam. I bought them primary as a home theater speaker but am amazed at how they can handle music too.
1st movies: The Sig 750's are fantastic for movies requiring the utmost in action and special effects. All 3 LOTR movies are phenomenal using the Rockets. The detail I can hear using the Rockets that I couldn't hear before is great. They also do well in movies or scenes that don't have that those huge special effects, but still require all the detail, like Kill Bill Vol. 1. The end sword fight at the club is amazing sounding, just hearing the blades slice thru the air (and people) is a treat. One of the biggest things I notice with what they do with movies, is how well they play the soundtrack during action intense scenes. Again Kill Bill Vol. 1 is a great example, another good one is Black Hawk Down, and the LOTR trilogy. The 750's let you hear all the music, and all the sound effects, without drowning one or the other out. When set to "Large" via the receiver they can also put out a fair amount of bass. A good movie to test this on is Saving Private Ryan. You can feel the rumble of the blast's and really feel it at the end when the tank comes roaring into the crater where Tom Hanks and Matt Damon are.
For music they are surprisingly good. I find myself listening to more music than I ever had before. The soundstage is very large, and depending on the cd, sacd, or dvd-audio disc the vocals or instruments seem to be really in the room with you. The Burmester demo cd's really shine on the 750's.
The midrange is the obvious strong point to the 750's. It is so lush and yet so clear and detailed. The midrange is what everyone I've had over to listen comment on.
The highs are I guess are "laid back" slightly. To me I really wouldn't say laid back, more just not ear piercing, but not missing any detail. They are sweet and smooth is a better way to describe them. You can listen to them all day at loud volumes and have no fatigue or pain.
The bass is very good for the 5.25" drivers, and is very tight and fast. If you like a lot of bass or want the real low stuff for 2 channel then you may want a subwoofer.
I very highly recommend these speakers, and if you have the chance to demo a set thru Audioenvy.com then I would take the opportunity to do so. Or just buy them I guess, and if you don't like em return them. Strengths: Easily competes with anything costing twice as much and some even more. BTW they are the only speaker I've heard that I can honestly say that. Lot's of others say this, but these really perform like it.
Beautiful finish. Weaknesses: Can be knocked over easily, they are kind of top heavy, so be careful. Getting the 750 Risers's help though.
Other than that none. Similar Products Used: B&W, Def Tech, AR, Monitor Audio, Atlantic, Paradigm, Aerial (lost to Aerial but those cost 5x as much).

Review 5 of 9
Price Paid:
$900.00
from AV123 Summary: This is a review for the Ebony 750 signature model.
This is a truly wonderful speaker. First of all, the build quality is stunning. BEUATIFUL real wood cabinets and piano black caps make these speakers a conversation piece. Furthermore, the shape of the cabinet is gorgeous as well.
Now for the sound- Overall, a great sound. The soundstage is very deep and wide, with a slightly laid back presentation. For example, when listening to Diana Krall with B&W 805's, she seems right in front of you. With the Rocket 750's she seems a little farther back. In my opinion, this is more pleasing to the ear. It gives the midrange a smoother, buttery quality. I love the highs on this speaker. They are defintely a bit laid back. But, I love that! Cymbals through the vifa tweeter always sound musical- never harsh. Moreover, female ess sounds (sibilance) always sound great. The mids on this speaker are also great. Very smooth and light. Buttery, I would say. There is just an overall finesse with this speaker. It does not ever sound like anything is jumping out at you- if that makes any sense. That is what makes the 750's a joy to listen to.
Bass is tight and fast via the the 4 aluminum cones. However, these speakers don't really go that low, so you need a sub if you like to hear the low bass. Strengths: SMOOTH yet detailed sound.
Buttery midrange- never heavy.
Tight midbass.
Big and wide soundstage with great imaging Weaknesses: May not be for everyone (if you like a brighter speaker)
Not a lot of really low bass. Similar Products Used: B&W 805
