Summary:
These 754 freedom speakers were very difficult to position. They are lacking high and have therefore a dull sound. Driving them with a Myryad amp set, i cannot imagine the problem lies in the amp. I have had the missions for a couple of months and sold them because they did not give me any musical pleasure

Summary:
Purchased these at over half price as discontinued stock. Sealed in the boxes after 5 years, they are sleek, solid monoliths that will demonstrate a superior presence in your listening room. Interesting model design with a bottom firing bass woofer though a port at the bottom of each cabinet just above the base plate. Tweeter and midrange at the top of the tower provides effective height for an equal distribution of sound. These speakers are laser cut, solid wood and painted in black ash. They are quite heavy. Sound quality a little reserved at lower levels but they really open up once you give them some power. I own 3 pairs of Mission speakers (762/734/70C2's)and these are not as lively until you really push them. Great addition to my home theatre. I waited for over a year to audition these until after the break-in period to give them a fair rating. Using Audioquest SLATE bi-wire cables connected to a Yamaha RX-V3000 AV Receiver. Yamaha has no problem powering these speakers at 6 ohms. Purchased the speakers at one of the only Mission retailers in Montreal who carry the audiophile series of Mission speakers for $1500.00 CDN. I found this to be the bargain of the century because they retailed over $3000 when they first were sold.

Strengths:
Heavy, solid wood (not pressboard)cabinets, rich deep base with fine midrange. No plastic trim.

Weaknesses:
You must assemble the base plate via hardware through 2" brass dowells. Cabinets are supported above the base plate allowing the bass port at the bottom of the cabinet.

Summary:
I bought the 754 freedom 5, as i wanted to upgrade my mission 753s, witch i have owned since 1993, but have always felt that they were lacking in lower bass, but i wanted speakers that gave me the same midrange & high detail that you get from the 753, of witch is still a classic speaker that mission should be proud of. after listening to the 754 freedom 5 back in 1997 i wanted to upgrade there and then but i could not afford them at £1500.00 until now and have got hold of a mint pair in light oak. if you are wanting a pair of these speakers buy them, as they eat the 753 for lunch, you will here deep tight bass that the 753 can't produce. The mid-range is still very expressive as with the 753 and the overall sound is beautifully rythmic. Do not listen to the reviews from the Hifi mags as the 3*** for sound is an under statement and may put you off buying them. I am driving them with 2 x quad 606 power amps byamped, quad 66 pre & a naim Cd5 / flatcap 2, and they truly rock with all types of music.

Strengths:
Deep Tight bass Mid & Treble impressive Dynamics with loads of headroom

Weaknesses:
needs a good power amp to give it it's best

Summary:
Having been in the market to supplement my beloved 753F for a year and incidentally found this ex-demo monsters lying in the corner of a local audio shop.
Picked it up without further negotiating and connected to my cheapy 70 w AV receiver immediately.
What a familiar sound and sweetness of the treble I had been looking for. I have actually auditioned Mission 783, Tannoy R3, ProArc Studio 125, KEF concerto etc but have never been so attracted to a sound quality like this one. Well an adequate amplifer and careful cabling is certainly required.

Strengths:
Sweetness of upper band, unbeatable midrange and well controlled bass. Builtquality

Weaknesses:
Previously being the cost, now because of its extinction from the market

Summary:
I bought these speakers new for about £500 as end of line items. I tell you it was the best £500 pounds spent and I would have quite happily spent twice that.

I have matched the speakers with Micro Mega gear and good quality cables and interconnects and I would recommend matching these with hi-end gear as well.

In terms of sounds the speakers work best with classical, jazz and plain vocals...although they do sound good with soul and R&B aswell.

Strengths:
Great midband and tight treble, wonderful detail but needs a hi-end set up to get full potential. Great elegant looks

Weaknesses:
Bass could be deeper given the size
