from second hand Summary: I knew these speakers from the past as good sounding for the money.
Resently,I bought a pair second hand for a friend of my,who has no car,so I picked them up.
At my place,I hooked m up on my set, wich is way up the missions league.
My (tube)amplifiers cost 10 times the retailprice of the missions,to give you an idea.
I just put them in front of my own speakers(apogee)en plugged the cables.
What I heard was truly magnificent!
A very large and deep soundstage,with realistic images,wich I din,t expect.
The bass was natural sounding, just a little loose.
The amps realy made the missions sound like I never heard them before.
Music was floating trough the room, even image heigt was in good proportions.
Voices stood upfront,60 cm above the baffle,in the centre of the soundstage.
The amps let the missions breathe, with a lot of air and spacious sounstage, what,s a credit of the easy to drive missions.
I bought a pair for myself allso.
They don,t have the top end of the apogee, but the performance for such a budgetspeaker is fab.
Strengths: great and expansive soundstage
musical
sound great with top equipment Weaknesses: bass not allways tight Similar Products Used: many

Price Paid:
$160.00
from Richersound Summary: I swapped these speakers for Morduant Short MS904's, these were slightly cheaper and a few people I know had said they were very good. The Mordaunt Shorts had better bass at higher volume levels but these speakers are definately better all round. The tweater is crisp but yet not too crisp and the mid is spot on however I must say that the Bass isnt as deep as it should be at lower levels and at High volumes seems to get lost. At a moderate volume these are good speakers, I also noticed that it took them a while to bed in and after two days of playing they did sound alot different. Strengths: All round performance and good looks Weaknesses: Low end bass Similar Products Used: Mordaunt Short 904 and Eltax, Nad 350 and 320bee

from stafhorst utrecht, h Summary: Being my first real audio set back in 1998, this was like an audiophonic revolution to me. the speakers can still handle every genre from hard pumping drum and base to a fine piece of classical music. the speakers are hooked up to a Rotel amp and I recently changed the appearance bij spraypainting them and using new rosewood like texture on the frontpanel (i always thought the light wood texture didn't suit the interior) Now i have great sounding, and great looking speakers. Strengths: bass, overal soundspectrum Weaknesses: this awfull grille they've used.. and the treble unless hooked up with decent cables and plugs.. Similar Products Used: b&w, kev

from Sound Academy, Bloxwich, UK Summary:
If you can find a pair I'd certainly recommend them - as a first floor-stander at any rates.
Their sound is not a particularly tight or controlled one, but can be described more as "comfortable".
This was, no-doubt, a very good budget floor-stander in it's day.
They are a little un-realistic and harsh on the trebble side, but this can be toned-down by using decent interconnects and speaker-cable.
The TDL RTL 2 is a much more controlled, punchier speaker (if you like that kind of thing), but since my friend managed to blow his up I can hardly recommend them ;-)
Personally I'm upgrading to B&W CDM1NT speakers which offer a controlled, powerful, detailed sound with an open energetic sound-stage. Some would call them harsh but this is not the case if run in properly, partnered with decent electronics and complimented by good quality cable (Van den Hul for instance) Strengths: Cheap. Stand the test of time - Mine are 5+ years old and still sound fairly good. Need a sub ideally. Good all rounders. Not for the Audiophile amongst us. Weaknesses: Absolutely attrocious grille mounts; extremely poor and certainly sub-standard for Mission. Similar Products Used: TDL RTL 2

from HIFI HEREMANS Summary: 40 years ago speakers made in Great Britain and U.S.A. had the reputation to be the best. Today I think they have the same reputation. A few years ago my home made 3-way loudspeaker system came out of use. Whith a limited budget my wife and I where looking for a new set. But how to compare a whole collection of manufactors? We took one of our favorite CD-recording and went to five stores. There we asked to play them, first I asked to bring the treble and bass of the amplifier to the middle point. What a experience! Most sellers even don't hear the diference! The harder the boom bass the better the loudspeaker!!. Maybe it is because we are lovers of baroque music that our ears are trained in an other way? It was not hard for us to make a first selection: pure sound where found by great names made in U.S.A. and Great Britain... but some at amazing high prices. The last decision was hard, 2 British speakers came in competition. The one sound a bit better in the lower tones, but he was above our budget. I never heard about Mission. For the middle and the high tones -Violin, Oboe, Flute and even baroque organ- the unknown Mission did it every good, just a lack of bass. Once at home I filled the box whith sand, and unbelievable, but he became a perfect competitor for his double priced concurent!
Strengths: Very good fot its price Weaknesses: hard to find information about mission Similar Products Used: home made 3-way loudspeaker
