Summary:
I spent a lot of money going throught more than 20 pairs of floor speakers and finally I found this pair. It is the best speakers I have ever heard so far. No noe can beat 704.

Review 2 of 33

Price Paid:  $200.00 from Richer sounds

Summary:
I have had the active version of the 704 for a year now and they were a bargain at £200 reduced from 750. They are very subtle sounding for their size, but they can also shake the room if needed, before them i had a pair of the much acclaimed m734i and the 704a speakers simply blow them away in all areas. They are still continuing to impress me a year later, and i realy do believe that mission speakers are in general the best all rounders and the best value for money.

Strengths:
Superb bass performance,vocals

Weaknesses:
The red l.e.d on the front looks out of place, should be round the back.

Review 4 of 33

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
Unacceptable ....

Strengths:
This speaker is good simply because it is a benchmark of where to START. Every speaker you listen to after this one at the same price will be better.

Weaknesses:
All compaerable speakers that I listened to sounded better. Paradigm, Mirrage, Energy .........

Review 5 of 33

Price Paid:  $200.00 from Richer Sounds

Summary:
The active version. Where to start? These speakers are awful when played in the wrong conditions with the wrong type of music. In smaller rooms the bass is boxy and undefined, the trebles harsh and compressed and the midrange muddy (surprising for a Mission product). These speakers do perform slightly better when tri-wired but it is essential to use tight sounding cables. Under higher volumes in large rooms they can perform reasonably well on good quality digital recordings. It's almost impossible to get a balanced sound with its active bass drivers. I would advise anyone who is planning to purchase these speakers think about using warm amplification, Arcam should do the speakers some justice.

Strengths:
Plenty of bass for Rock and Dance music. Better than average performers in larger environments.

Weaknesses:
Bland, undefined, boxy, harsh and inaccurate. These speakers need to be matched carefully with the system. The amplifiers constantly buzz.

Marantz MA-9S2 Reference Series Power Amplifiers Review

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
