Price Paid:  $499.00 from Local Dealer

Summary:
I was given this cable to test in my system by a local dealer. He said if I try it I won’t want to part with it. He was right. When I matched it up against my prior cable, the Audioquest Volcano, I was quite surprised. The SS-1000 Bi-wire was far better in most ways including:

Sound stage, - much wider and deeper with the LAT.
Tight and articulate bass,
Harmonic accuracy,
Transparency,
Absolutely quite background,

It reproduced vocals realistically while vocals with the Audioquest had a slight tubby sound. It was not really noticeable until I played vocals with the LA T. A world of difference. Overall the LAT produce a smooth uncolored sound that I am able to listen to several hours at a time without any fatiguing. I can’t say the same for the Audioquest.
To add to the disparity, the Audioquest Volcano costs 6 times more than the LAT. I am glad the dealer convinced me to try it since I was doubtful that it could be better than the Audioquest. Many audiophiles say, don’t go by price when evaluating a cable. I confirmed that advice.

Strengths:
Wide and deep sound stage
Tight and articulate bass,
Harmonic accuracy,
Transparency,
Absolutely quite background,

Weaknesses:
None I detected

Magnepan Magneplanar MG 1.6 User Review

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
