Review 2 of 26

Price Paid:  $94.00 from JBL outlet store

Summary:
I''m very impressed with these speakers. They are, in my opinion, the best sounding speakers in their size range and I''ve owned Infinity''s, other JBL''s, Paradigm, and Cambridge Soundworks. Though they are smaller in size the bass is deeper and richer, the high''s are crisp and do not hurt my ears which is surprising for polycarbonate tweeters. I got a great deal on them direct from JBL and will keep them for life. I recommend them highly to anyone considering a pair.

Strengths:
Sound quality vs size. Looks.

Weaknesses:
No longer made.

Similar Products Used:
other JBL bookshelf speakers, Infinity, Paradigm.

Price Paid:  $300.00 from Bestbuy

Summary:
I''ve had these speakers since 1999, and have used them with two different recievers(Pioneer556, Harman Kardon AVR-510) sound good with both, good bass for a smaller speaker, good highs for what I use them for(mostly movies). Used with jbl sub, jbl center, and yamaha surrounds.

Review 4 of 26

Price Paid:  $100.00 from eBay

Summary:
these are the best speakers i have ever owned. but that doesnt say much. i have heard better speakers, but for my application these are the best! they were only 100 dollars on ebay. they sound VERY good and are very LOUD!! the bass is very tight and hits very hard. of course youll need a subwoofer with these little 8's. but on their own they are not too shabby for bass. the highs are crisp and clean. i like the tweeters. but i fried one when playing "feed my frankenstine" by alice cooper. i cranked the MF's up as loud as it would go and i was JAMMIN but then about 3 min later the tweeter cut out. a replacement tweeter was only 20 shipped from jbl!!!!!!!!!

GET THESE SPEAKERS!!!!!

Strengths:
crisp high end. decent bass

Weaknesses:
tweeters will fry if you push them too hard.

Similar Products Used:
tecnics sb 1033

Review 5 of 26

Price Paid:  $120.00 from Circuit City

Summary:
Purchased these at Circuit City for a pretty decent price but after about a year, both tweeters blew at the same time. I had the same problem of having a hard time locating replacements and eventually decided to go with a JBL knock-off replacement. It was the best thing I ever did cause it was a third of the price and I've been hitting them pretty hard with no problems. I love these speakers and will not be replacing them any time soon, but watch those tweeters!

Strengths:
Clear highs.

Weaknesses:
Unreliable tweeters.

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
