Price Paid:  $1000.00 from private sale

Summary:
I have 4 of these drivers in a pair of jbl theatre enclosers, pn 4642a. I have them powered by a jbl power amp (2000w@2ohms.
, they will go down to 22 cycles and produce up to 140 db spl. On top of these enclosers I have a pair of 4350b monitors. The sound is out of control, the air movment is so intence out of the subs it rattles my neighbours teeth. JBL pro gear set up correctly is very difficult to beat if not impossible. Remember one thing when you listen to your favrite recordings, they were probably mastered using JBL monitors so it makes sence to listen to those recordings using JBL pro gear.

Strengths:
earth shaking bass right down to the lowest octives

Weaknesses:
very large cabnets ( these are pro bins very unattractive)

Similar Products Used:
I haven't seen anything that comes close, these are very serious sub bass units.

Summary:
The 2241g/h is a 18 inch subwoofer which is available as a raw driver or in a enclosure. JBL uses this driver in there pro THX setups. H is an 8 ohm model and G is a 4 ohm model. The driver is rated at 600 watts rms and 98 db 1w/1m. The enclosure is usually ported at 30 hertz but will still put out bass down to 20 hertz depending on the room. In comparing to the velodyne sub the bass from the JBL is quicker and much louder from 25 hertz up. The velodyne on the other hand can play lower, down to 15 hertz. I used a crown studio reference one amp to drive two of them. The crown is rated at 800 watts into 8 ohms and 1200 watts into 4 ohms. It also has a damping factor of 20,000 at 8 ohms. I bought the drivers for 250.00 each and built two custom cabinets. JBL has a new driver out the 2242h, it has a 800 watt rating and plays lower, down to 18 hertz without any EQ-ing. This driver would be even better for Home Theater use. .
I used the velodyne HGS-18 to compare, this model has a 1250 watt amp, a 18 inch cone and 1.25 inches of linear throw. This is a beautiful sub but list for $2800.00. I have a large room but still wanted loud clean bass so the JBL's were the way to go.

Moscode 402Au OLT stereo power amplifier Review

George is adamant about the fact that the Moscode 402Au is not just a tube gain stage slapped onto a solid-state power amplifier; rather, it is a tube amplifier with a MOSFET output stage.

Lowther’s DX-65 driver in the Teresonic Magus XR Review

A new driver from Lowther is real news. A new five inch driver is even rarer news, so it was with great anticipation that I waited on this pair of speakers to arrive.

Aune Mini Headphone DAC User Review

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
