Review 1 of 6

Price Paid:  $200.00 from electronicexpo

Summary:
Outstanding Center Channel.

Strengths:
This center channel is good enough for me to take the time to write a review. This is about the third review I've ever bothered to write.
The highs and midranges and bass are fantastic.
The clarity is simply outstanding. I don't see how I could have made a better choice for the money.
Acoustically I have found no downsides.

Weaknesses:
Aesthetically it is large may not seem balanced next to smaller tv. I've chosen to install a projector and a screen for my home theater. I have a 10'3" screen and it looks fine to me to have the large center channel on the floor.

Review 2 of 6

Price Paid:  $250.00 from ebay

Summary:
Big and heavy, cherry fininsh, 3-way center. Gives very revealing sound, accurate sound. This is a speaker to reproduce what was recorded, not to add warmth or brightness.

Strengths:
Clean, clear center.

Good base for a center (claims 45Hz), sounds good and flat at least to 80Hz (I haven't really tried lower).

Looks good.

High efficiency rating, sound good even turned up loud with my whimpy 75 watt reciever in a huge room.

Excellent dynamics. Can sounds good loud and soft, even reproduces subte and quite during tracks that feature loud (important if you like classical music, helps for movies too).

Weaknesses:
Long burn in period until it sounds as good as it will.

The grills definietly affect the sound. I am not 100% sure this is negative, I think off-axis may be better with them on, but on-axis seems a little weaker.

Treble seems a little light (although this could be a problem with other speakers I have heard having heavier treble). It isn't a huge difference, the treble is clear, and I am not a big fan of upper range music anyway.

Off axis is not great (especially treble), but I haven't heard much better with other speakers.

Review 3 of 6

Price Paid:  $210.00 from eBay

Summary:
Geat sounding speaker! Brings incredible clarity to vocals. Three way design works well, and all drivers produce a uniform sounding response across the speaker's frequency response. Imaging is near perfect. Speaker even sounds excellent for music in surround mode (hard rock/metal). This speaker is also relatively affordable, and it is probably one of the better speakers in this price range.

Specs
45 Hz-20 kHz frequency response
91 dB sensitivity
10-200 watts power rating
8 ohm impedance
weight 34 pounds
size 8- 1/2" H x 25-5/8" L x 11-3/4" D
Magnetically shielded

Strengths:
Blends perfectly with Infinity Beta 50 tower speakers. Sound quality is great! Vocals sound good playing music and during HT use. Built in rod to assist with placement on top of TV is a nice feature. Protective metal grill to protect drivers from accidental damage. Veneer quality is pretty darn good in the cherry finish.

Weaknesses:
The speakers large size and weight but not IMO. Takes a few hours of use to break in if that can be called a weakness. Only one set of binding posts on the speaker.

Similar Products Used:

Review 4 of 6

Price Paid:  $265.00 from Acoustic Sound Desig

Summary:
I purchased the Infinity Center channel speaker to round out my theater system. Although the speaker was larger than expected and heavy as well. I am impressed with the sound. I decided to go with the 3 way speaker to bring out the center channel vocals because my little Sont center channel speaker was not doing the job. The speaker is well built and solid.

Strengths:
Able to handle the loud portions of any movie. Rock solid

Weaknesses:
The speaker grill has a molded conture that doesn't fit correctly causing it to gap on the ends.

Similar Products Used:
Small Sony center channel speaker.

Review 5 of 6

Price Paid:  $265.00 from www.acousticsounddes

Summary:
An excellent center speaker at a very reasonable price. I only recently decided to take the plunge into multi-channel sound. After several weeks of reading reviews, I decided upon the Infinity Beta C360 center speaker. The best price I found online was from www.acousticsounddesign.com, and their handling of my order, as well as their customer service in general, has been excellent. I have no complaints whatsoever with the company.

As for the speaker itself, it sounds so much better than my 20-year-old Sony floor-standing SS-U531AV (3-way) speakers, that I have decided to replace the Sonys with a pair of Infinity Beta 40 towers. (My second upgrade was a Hsu STF-2 subwoofer, so I feel I can go with the Beta 40s rather than the Beta 50s.)

And I do intend to order the Beta 40s from acousticsounddesign.com. Where else?

Strengths:
Solid construction. Good quality (vinyl) cherry finish. CMMD cone material. Good binding posts. Attractive front panel -- although I prefer them without it, as the cherry "wood" appearance goes well with the oak entertainment center where the C360 is placed on a shelf above a 29" Sony Trinitron TV. The C360 is magnetically shielded.

Weaknesses:
None at its price point. It is a bit heavy (34 pounds), but that's not a problem, imo.

Similar Products Used:
Sony 3-way tower speakers.
