from Audiogon Auction Summary: Elco GI-999R ICs were a little brash and out of focus for the first few hours. After burn-in (almost 50 hours) was complete, instruments and vocals seemed harmonically complete, creating a liquid-sounding presentation that's far removed from threadbare and sterile. This contributed to a richness in the midrange that was pleasing. Elco ICs' tonal aspects are in between Cardas Golden Cross and Cardas Golden Reference. Elco GI-999R ICs deliver a lot for the auction price over their more expensive brethren. I'm impressed by the Elco world-no bias, no bull. Strengths: Smooth and clean background rewards the lister with superb resolution of mid level detail and transparency. Weaknesses: Low-level ambiance cues was not as discernible as Cardas Golden Reference. Similar Products Used: Nordost SPM and Quattro-Fil, Cardas Golden Cross and Golden Reference.
