Summary:
Talking about a piece of audio equipment not really worth its money, and I haven't come accross many, but in my opinion this is one, or better two. Yes, these are beautifully crafted pieces of wooden craftmanschip indeed, and their sound is, well; not really bad.. And I know I tried to get the best out of these, matching them to numerous pieces of equipment, well cabled, well positioned etc.. But only with a not more than vaguely mediocre result, that is compared to other speakers in or just above this (price-) class. And I don't understand, because their brothers the famous Diapason's Adamantes ARE worth their money indeed, definitely! Based on experience with these I bought the Diapason Nux more or less in the blind, having faith these would perform about as well in a better system than I heard them in when buying, but they don't, sorry. Their sound is flat and rather uninteresting, no life, nor in voices, nor in bass response. Bass, low bass can come out but seems uncorrelated to the rest of the musical picture. Highs.. they don't even come as high as I can hear.. Not harmonic, not musical, nothing special at all, except for their beautiful looks and wooden wellness. Not happy to see them go visually, but audiowise I entered a complete different realm with for example the Audio Physic Avanti MKII's, and compared to many others I've experienced or owned through the years. Maybe a class of one or two higher in price, but so much more worth their money audiowise compared to these compact 13 kgs feather weights. Also I find the (much cheaper) Jean Marie Reynaud Twin Signature MKII about the same quality, even a step better than the Nux (more aliveness, at a little less bass extension, at a third of the Nux's price excl. stands).

Strengths:
Visual

Weaknesses:
absolutely non convincing sound quality

Marantz MA-9S2 Reference Series Power Amplifiers Review

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

A new driver from Lowther is real news. A new five inch driver is even rarer news, so it was with great anticipation that I waited on this pair of speakers to arrive.

Aune Mini Headphone DAC User Review

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
