Review 1 of 18

Price Paid:  $950.00 from 6 Avenue

Summary:
very good receiver with excellent speakers, great and pure sound, good for a mid-size room. I plan to put a subwoofer with the system, could you give some suggestions about it.

Strengths:
easy to use, a lot power.

Weaknesses:
no surround sound, so can not make a real home theater system.

Similar Products Used:
sony

Review 2 of 18

Price Paid:  $789.00 from consumer electronics on-line in North Carolina

Summary:
this is the system to get if looking for a mini system,
excellent mission speakers...
did not order the tape deck, since i discarded all of my tape and replaced it with CD's...
the mechanics of the CD changer is a bit loud,
take too long for my distance to power ON but nanosecond to power OFF.

Strengths:
nice small footing,

Weaknesses:
none detected

Similar Products Used:
prior to this, I was using full sized pioneer receivers, tested DM 5, which comes in one unit

Review 3 of 18

Price Paid:  $800.00 from brandnamez.com

Summary:
System I speak about: 1999 D-M10 with the original Mission speakers and the optional tape deck.

Excellent system for the money. Sound is very natural and well-defined. Works best for classical and jazz but still fine for metal and electronic music.

Concerns about durability of the CD changer down the road.

Strengths:
clean, precise sound
power (given its size)
looks, no gimmicks
3-CD changer
convenient timer features if used as bedroom stereo
dolby C on tape deck

Weaknesses:
3-CD changer is noisy and occasionally jams (warrantied once already...)
choice of functions available on remote vs. on the unit itself is debatable
upgrade the speaker cables
lacks full low-frequencies reproduction (but it's still fine, really!)

Similar Products Used:
none in the exact same category, but both nicer, separated element stereo (Marantz/Pioneer/Yamaha/KEF) and cheaper JVC UX1

Review 4 of 18

Price Paid:  $450.00

Summary:
Owned this system for more than a year now and still loving it. Have upgrade the interconnect and speaker cables.

If pure clarity is what you seek, this is the system for you. Music have never sounded smoother on any system in this price range. Will definitely dazzle you.

Sounds best when the bass and treble are left on neutral.

Exceptional system for Jazz and Classical enthusiasts. Not one for the rockers though.

Strengths:
Great sound! Clarity is far beyond any product of the price range.

Weaknesses:
Not one for the rockers......

Review 5 of 18

Price Paid:  $350.00

Summary:
This is a really nice system. I especially like the slick design and the 3CD changer. More important, the sound is ok for such a small system.

The only thing that i dont like i s the remote control, it is HUGE has a lot of buttons (3 'play' buttons!!!). And the buttons that you use often is hidden behind a lid, and is tiny :-( I try to hide the awful thing once the music starts so I can enjoy the sound :-)

Strengths:
Very nice design, 3CD

Weaknesses:
Useless remote control

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
