Review 1 of 6

Price Paid:  $1000.00 from Local Electronics St

Summary:
This thing rocks!! I play everything from D&B to Enigma, to instrumentals, and the list of DVDs is endless - but this baby keeps me wanting to open the volume a bit more everytime!

Strengths:
Looks great - Powerfully built, discrete channel amplification, churns out those 140W per channel endlessly. None of the amps I've tried earlier could equate to this!

Weaknesses:
Gimme a break...

Similar Products Used:
Yamaha RXV-1200, 430 and the A1.

Review 2 of 6

Price Paid:  $1000.00 from Private sale.

Summary:
This ampilfier is simply the best available in it's price range. It has oodles of power on tap and sounds superb in any mode. It easily outperforms the Yamaha A1 in all areas. It's build quality is excellent and it is as good as mid-range audiophile amps in stereo. Brilliant!

Strengths:
Powerful delivery in multi-channel. Superb with 2 channel stereo. Built like a tank. Gorgeous looks.

Weaknesses:
Yeah - right!

Similar Products Used:
Yamaha DSP-A1, Denon AVC-A10.

Review 3 of 6

Summary:
This amplifier rules! (more info see strength)

Strengths:
This amplifier rules! Great sound and very good Digital to analog convertors. This machine is built for the future.
I also like the 24bit 96khz processing, prepared for 7.1 devices (8 channels) and the optical out (and it ignores SCMS!!!!), so you can easily clone CDs if you like. I wanted to buy the Yamaha A1 but I am very glad I heard about this amplifier. It is also very easy to use. You can set memory for each attached device, so the amplifier standard selects the THX mode for instance when you select DVD on the amplifier.

Weaknesses:
Only one which has nothing to do with the A1D but with Denon. They have a price agreement in the Netherlands which cuts the price competition between the dealers. In Germany you pay 2000 guilders (1000 US dollars) less for the avc- a1d! So for all the Dutch audio fans, don't buy it in Holland, drive to Germany!!!!

Review 4 of 6

Summary:
Perfectly built muscle-amp with absolute first-class sound reproduction of both surround and stereo! Not to miss!

Strengths:
Can drive really demanding speakers and has alot of watts at your desposal. Sound is never harsh, and you can play really LOUD. Lots of warmth and detail with exellent bas. I have it coupled with NHT VT-2 towers and three VS-2 satellites. They work great together!
This Denon also looks very sexy, with its shining gold color.

Weaknesses:
The remote controll is rather a clutter of buttons, and is rather big and flat. It does not fit your hands like some of Pioneers remotes for example. But at least some of the buttons glow in the dark!

Review 5 of 6

Summary:
Well, aside from the specs (you can look them up on the Denon site) I think it's a great product in it's price/value category. It's also one of the few amps that features component video in/out. (I don't use it, but I'm sure people with a stand-alone DVD player will appreciate this...)
It has good 5x 140W @ 8 Ohms amps with which I drive my Jamo THX System One speakers and I can only say: It rocks!

I use an Adcom GFA-545 II Amp for the bass speakers, a Scsi DVD-Rom in combination with a Sigma Hollywood+ Mpeg2 decoding card along with a Hitachi CPX900 LCD Projector.

Well... except for people laughing at the wrong moment eating the wrong kind of candy (noisy) , equipment that isn't properly calibrated I can say I'm not missing out on much compared with the movie theatre (at least not in Belgium...)

Needless to say that I'm very satisfied with it!

All round 5 star °)

No, you can’t always get what you want. The number of loudspeakers surpassing the cost of a decent family sedan is staggering. Then there are speakers that cost as much as a house.
