Review 1 of 8

Price Paid:  $165.00 from Ebay

Summary:
I had been using an Onkyo Rack System with the Onkyo Speakers that came with the system but recently moved into an apartment and needed a smaller system with speakers large enough to sound good but also sit on a shelf instead of the floor. I picked up a pair of these Cerwin-Vega E-708 speakers brand new on eBay for $165 and they are outstanding and one of the best deals I have ever gotten on eBay. Very distinct and clear sounds and for only 8" woofers they have a good low bass sound. In fact they are very deceptive with their smaller size. They may look small but they sound BIG! If you like cymbals and acoustic guitar you are really going to be in for a treat as they really make the acoustic guitar and even cymbals really come through beautifully! Outstanding speakers at a very reasonable price.

Strengths:
Big speaker sound out of a small speaker, quality sturdy build, crisp and super clear mids and highs.

Weaknesses:
None

Review 4 of 8

Summary:
These speakers are amazing. The guy that said they suck either has a defective pair (unlikely) or defective ears, or a really crappy amp. These sound awesome. Despite what he says you can feel the bass, for a balanced sound I usually turn bass to -2 and treble to +2 on my amp. The bass doesn't seem boomy its pretty tight. Where these speakers really seem to shine is reproducing cymbals and accoustic guitar. It sounds so realistic. They're also pretty efficient speakers for their size, they're bigger than the JBL's they replaced for me, but I don't have to turn my amp up as much. I also don't have to worry about the tweeter frying cuz they have some kind of tweeter proection circuit that shuts them off if the amp clips.

Strengths:
Really good highs, cymbals sound awesome, accoustic guitar sounds like it's right in front of you, good tight bass

Weaknesses:
Nothing really for the price

Similar Products Used:
JBL800-I blew the tweeter and sent them back to JBL for repair and they sent them back to future shop said they were unrepairable and to exchange them. Future Shop was nice and offered me a $50 upgrade to these

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
