from Internet Summary: I have a hard time getting used to the characteristics of "high-end" speakers...
My usual listening pair was Cerwin Vega 300 SE's from '90.
I don't like the way CV built a limiting capacitor into the high crossover. It basically filters frequencies above 14KHz! I tried replacing the 94 dB rated silk domes with a pair of 97 dB CV VS-120 tweeters. The high end STILL has no sparkle! It the Crossover's fault :(((
The mids do get "sloppy" when played at high volume levels (they are in a sealed cabinet section with the tweeters)
The twelve in woofers sound "nice" "deep", but not unearthingly DEEP. very balanced for the system.
I wouldn't recommend this speaker system to many since it sounds flat and overly mid-ranged. Strengths: uses little floor space and puts tweeters at a good (high) listening position. Weaknesses: Tweeters have no brilliance or sparkle due to crossover limitation
