from ebay Summary: I previously owned a pair of D-9s back in the mid 80s. In comparing the two, I would say the A-15s are more balanced overall. The D-9s hold a slight edge in bass response though. Here is a rundown of my setup:
Carver C4000t Preamplifier
Hafler DH-500 Power Amplifier
DBX 2231 Equalizer
With this equipment, they produce a beautiful soundstage - even without the EQ in the loop. I really don't see how I could improve on the results I got. Before getting these, I listened to a pair of Klipsch Heresys and a pair of Cornwalls. Granted, the Klipsch speakers are more refined (real wood cabinets vs. particle board), but neither had the bottom end of the CVs. The mids and highs are clean and crisp. As with any speaker, you must have a capable amp to get the best out of them - a receiver just won't do. I may be in for a rude awakening, but I think they could seriously compete with anything costing up to five grand. One more thing: along with a good amp, get a good set of my speaker cables. Your CVs will thank you. Strengths: Legendary bass response
Excellent mids and highs
Great value for the money Weaknesses: None. Similar Products Used: Cerwin Vega D-9s
