from hifiwinkel Summary: In some newsgroups i have read some articles about what people use with their Rega Planar 3 turntable.
Because I didn’t want to use washers for leveling the arm height and did want to replace my Rega exact
cartridge with a MC. So there are not many brands what you can use. There were some people who
were using a several types of Dynavector , and Benz mc’s. Many people were raving about the 10x5 but
only one was positive about the Karat but in this case he has to use washers. I did /do want a fast musical
sound. The rhythm has to be very involving en the mids has to be seductive.
Not many people were using the Benz and if they did most of them have bought the ACE. But however
There was one person who was selling the Rega turntables a long time who was very enthusiastic about
the Benz H mc cartridge. In his view the cartridge could be placed in the Rega without washers.
So after a lot of thinking I finaly bought one. It’s sounds great with with all kind of music (jazz, classical, rock)
But I have to say that a good preamp is necessary for reproducing a good sound. In my case I use
a Graham Slee era gold V preamp. Strengths: musical, great attack, mids very good Weaknesses: none Similar Products Used: rega exact , AToc9, linn k9
