Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
I bought this center prevous to buying a set of 803D mains. The tweeter is more forward than the diamonds on the 803Ds but it makes for good center channel vocals that are crisp, clear and it has excellent soundstage and width.

My surrounds are the CCM-65 and match up very well with this center and even the 803Ds.

I don't plan on moving up to the diamond series centers from B&W as I am very satisfied with the vocals for HT and music sweetness for 5 channel sterero when I'm not listening to 2 channel music through the 803Ds.

Strengths:
Very clear and accruate sound that isn't too harsh even with the aluminum tweeter. Excellent soundstange and width dispersion to mains. Ability to accurately produce sound down to 55-60 Hz without any issue whatsoever.

Night and day difference over the cc6 (I think that is the model name).

Very good bank for the buck considering what an 800 series center would cost.

Weaknesses:
As the other poster said, they do need to be pointed toward the listening area on the vertical plane and are sensitive to this.

Not really a weakness but unless your electroincs and source inputs are good, you will hear it through the speaker.

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $750.00 from Ultra Hifi, NY

Summary:
I bought this along with B&W 704. I previously had B&W CC6 S2 with a pair of 601s as main speakers. HTM7 was a big improvement over CC6. Dialogues are much more crisp and detailed. HTM7 complements 703, 704, or 705 beautifully in terms of looks and sound quality. I played Diana Krall and Metallica DVD-A, and HTM7 sounds wonderful with vocals. Based on my experience, HTM7 is not as good as HTM1, but considering the price difference, HTM7 will get you about 85% of HTM1 performance at little more than 1/3 of price. One thing to keep in mind is that the speaker is very sensitive to positioning. It sounds very muffled if not tilted at a correct angle toward the listner (as with most speakers, but little more sensitive than others).

Strengths:
Rich and clear vocals and dialogues Matching design for other B&W 700 series speakers

Weaknesses:
Almost too tall if you have to place it on top of a projection TV

No, you can’t always get what you want. The number of loudspeakers surpassing the cost of a decent family sedan is staggering. Then there are speakers that cost as much as a house.
