These are fabulous speakers. - Hardly ever mentioned in the UK HiFi Press. - Probably because AudioVector don''t contribute vast sums of money to their advertising revenue. (Unlike Mission which, co-incidentally seem to be over enthusiastically recommended whenever the day ends in the letter ''y'').
> Strengths: These boxes are a miracle. - Totally transparent with such a natural and detailed top end with oodles of space around the various highs. Imaging is fantastic helped by the fact that these small boxes really do disappear into the soundstage. Not a trace of that harsh cheap sounding ZZzzzziiiing of those cheaper metal dome models. The top end dynamics are astounding - you just get the feeling they could handle anything you could throw at them - at any volume and still have room for more (and the Nytech is a hefty amp).
The mids are also fantastically natural on these units. - I can''t really say much about it. - How can you give characteristics to something that doesn''t have any of it''s own. - Basically, when listening to BBC Radio4 - (Speech - Drama, News, Documentaries and Current Affairs for non UK folks) - which I spend most of my time doing, the presenters could be in the room with you, except when the sound engineer screws up - which these speakers expose admirably. - I never thought I would be tut-tutting at the sound quality of the BBC so much. - They really should do better as the United Kingdom''s national broadcaster!! Basically, I have been startled more than once wh Weaknesses: Not weaknesses really, just things to keep in mind.
Although I have tried to keep them away from the corners of the room, (at least 3 feet) I think the bass can get a little bit carried away at higher volumes, but this is the fault of the positioning of the units and not the units themselves as I didn''t notice this in the shop where they were positioned out in the open.
They will reveal that half your CD collection was actually recorded on your granny''s dictaphone (and the sound engineer was wearing her hearing aid ;-)
