Summary:
Listening. First impressions of this player was of a stark, very foward sounding player with allot of detail.I almost stopped listening !But as they say "you must run these things in first before listening".listening to another run in model (white noise disc on repeat) this player resulted in being real a sonic delight. The detail is really very good, particulary on large scale Classical Recordings. In comparisons to other players its the The treble frequencies that really strike me as having a major difference. They are never harsh. The digital nasties seem to have gone!? It is almost as if the player wraps you up in a full bodied three dismentional sound and just keeps on playing. The music never sounds stressed. You must have good partnering equipment and software though. Otherwise one may wonder what the fuss is all about. The midrange frequencies flow and are really clear. The bass is very full and loose, maybe a little too loose, but I don't rate this player in this frequency range as much as the former frequencies. It's the smooth three dismentional treble that I like. After long listening sessions and direct comparisons to similar priced redbook (only) players I definately recommend go with the Upsampling Diva CD93.At least ...don't buy a new player until you hear this one.If you can stretch you budget go with the Upsampling FMJ CD33.It's all of the above and more!

Strengths:
A Full bodied and smooth three dismentional treble sound. Good detail retreval in good recordings! A Basic clean looking player with no silly gimmicks.

Weaknesses:
Can be a littel boring on averagely recorder discs. It won't make everything sound fantastic. Yes that power transformer busses (like previous Arcams). The famous "universal"remote control is too cluttered.

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
