I purchased the TU9600 in 1993 and I have had it ever since. It has a pleasing design with the semi-unique feature of two antenna sources. I have been extrememly happy with this tuner. It has an excellent search capability and can pick up very small stations. It also has multiple presets allowing for eithe many stations or for each member of the family to have their own small group. As for sound, it is crystal clear with very good clarity but with good warmth. While no longer produced, it is a steal if you can find it.

The TU-9600 tuner with analog outputs, dual antenna inputs, and remote is a digital tuner with state of the art performance. It is an absolute steal for the money. Harmon Kardon many years ago started out as the leading edge of tuner designs and many still are regarded as such today. Highly recommended digital tuning capability with a very musical analog sound with fine tuning and stereo blend switching. I give this a five star rating for both sound quality, ease of operation and build.

I bought this unit second hand for $300 mainly because it looks great and was the top of the line unit at the time. Main feature is Active Tracking, others are Fine Tuning, Hi-Blend and 2 antenna inputs (a must in my opinion). The major problem for me is that it's got only 24 presets! Being a picky listener and hearing the offering from most stations this is really crap. The major strength is the lack of useless features (like RDS in my opinion) to build the best sound. It's really great, i discovered a lot of small stations with this tuner and the sound is strong, warm and clear. 4 stars because of the lack of presets, 5 stars on the music front.
