Review 3 of 3 Summary: Picked up this unit locally for $1,200. Used with RCA 5510 DVD, Panasonic PV-8664 VCR, Teac AGD-9100 DD reciever, Optimus CS-3 center, LX-10 fronts, LX-8 rears and CSW Bass Cube-12 sub. Excellent and vibrant color reproduction, epecially on DVDs such as Fifth Element and Austin Powers when viewed through component input. Calibrated it with Video Essentials, needed very little adjustment outside of brightness (black level). 3 composite, 1 component, 1 S-VHS and 2 antenna inputs. Nice features like 2-tuner PIP, strobe (frame-by-frame freeze and advance of anything viewed through set) and color temperature adjustment, among others. Optional stand integrates with the set nicely. Don't use the set's speakers at all, so won't comment on them. Only one noticeable flaw- slight "mosaic" pattern is noticeable on an otherwise all-black screen (when no source), don't know if this is indicative of all sets or this particular one. Quite minor, picture is nothing short of breathtaking through compnent input, even impresses non-audio-enthusiast girlfriend who fails to be impressed with the difference between 5.1 surround and mono from the TV. No problem with wavy lines as reported on CN36H97 model, I believe they use different tubes (FST Black in 95 vs. FST Perfect in 97?). Very happy with purchase, will keep until purchasing digital set becomes viable. Would give 4.5 due to mosaic, round up to 5.
