Strength:

Dual tuner PIP, Very sharp and clear picture, Excellent colors, Component video input capability, Exc. remote. Lots of inputs (ant, 2 lines, component video, s-video)

Weakness:

Good sound, but could be better, Very reflective screen

I've been very happy with this TV. I originally bought the Toshiba CZ32V51, but upgraded to this "Cinema Series" model with dual-tuner PIP. The picture is noticably better than the other Toshiba set, and the dual tuner PIP works perfectly. I connected to my Toshiba 3109 DVD player throught the component video cables and the picture is just fantastic. I also have my digital cable box connected to the TV's s-video input and that looks great too.

The only drawback on this model is the mediocre sound quality. But if you listen through a good receiver and keep the sound level all the way down, it's a wonderful system. I'm just sorry that I didn't get the 36" Cinema Series model.

Very highly recommended.

Update

Hi, This is an update to my previous review, which was bad, this one is even worse. The repairman took the chassis out of my TV , kept it for about two weeks, I had to have a friend stay at my residence because they wouldn't come back on a saturday, they said they did a modification to the chassis ,now the brightness level is so low that at a 100% the picture is too dark, you definetly cannot use theatre mode, plus all the original problems are still there, now this thing is just a huge "POS". I am going to fight with everone to get rid of it, starting with credit card company, store purchased at, manufacturer, and I of coarse will under no circumstances either purchase another toshiba product nor recommend anyone buy one, I won't even use capital letters spelling there name, I anyone has any suggestions that may help please feel free to e mail me, thanx.

Strength:

Clear crisp picture, exellent blacks due to the Invar tube, backlit remote, good sound

Weakness:

slanted black lines when watching dvd's, convergence is off(very noticeable) picture curves in at the right side.

Wow, where do I start, ok..I origially started with a model cz32t31. It was a clearence set. The first thing I saw was the convergence was way off(green on one side of someones face and red on the other) then I put in a DVD and saw the top black bar looked like a slide(right side was about 5 inches thick ,left side was like 2 inches) I had the whiz pick up the set and deliver another one they took it out of the box (which was already opened) I refused it because of obvious physical damage to the set.I went to the whiz they made me a great deal on the cinema series cn32v71, I though "great" the set I wanted anyway at a good price,
first thing I see convergence off ,put in a dvd slanted picture across the top and down the sides, what is with Toshiba these days, I am a tech. and I have never seen a set so badly misaligned.I will be keeping this set and will call a tech. to sevice it under the warranty, but under no currcumstances would I recommend Toshiba to anyone. If anyone would like to E-mail on any solutions or other problems they experienced with this set or if you have a fix, please do so, thanx, Todd

Strength:

Decent picture, great price, lots of features

Weakness:

sound could be better, remote layout

this televison looked great in the store. better than sony, panasonic and proton! but when i got it home it lost some of the depth and richness. however for the price $619.00 plus tax you cant beat it. it has tons of features of which most you will never use. i have had none of the problems that are described below but mine was built recently and maybe they fixed the bugs found in early models. sound is weak which bothers me becuase i was relying on the internal sound. i dont plan on hooking anything up to it right now so i guess i will have to live with it.

Great picture, programmable remote

Weakness:

bulky remote

I purchased this to fill in the time before I get my HDTV few years down the road. So far I am pleased with the features for the price and have not experienced any problems with the TV as encountered by others!

I would recommend it for anyone for the price for feature.

I've had this television for 9 months now and haven't had any problems with it. The piture looks great when I watch DVDs and I like the PIP viewer. After reading other reviews I purchased the 5 year in home service. If the T.V. works as good as mine I would recommend it to others for a good value/quality choice.

This is a follow-up from a previous posting. First many thanks to Tom & the others who had posted their similar experiences. I had the tech guy from Toshiba came in to defocus the picture & viola the lines are gone. I honestly can't tell if there is a difference in the picture quality after being defocused. Anyway, I am satisfied now. I have one question though: In my old Toshiba monitor you could turn off the tv speaker when listening thru your home theatre speakers. Now, with this model do we just turn the volume down? Can't seem to find anything abt it in the manual.

Strength:

GREAT COLOR, FEATURES, REMOTE

Weakness:

NONE THAT I CAN DETECT

I, LIKE MANY OTHERS, BOUGHT THIS TELEVISION TO BIDE MY TIME WAITING FOR DIGITAL TV TO SORT ITSELF OUT AND TO BE ABLE TO UTILIZE COMPONENT VIDEO W/ DVD. AN UNEXPECTED BONUS WITH THIS IS THE REMOTE. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TEACH IT TO CONTROL MY CABLE BOX, VCR & CERTAIN FUNCTIONS OF MY RECEIVER. IN SHORT, I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. THE PIP FEATURES ARE WELL LAID OUT (AS IS THE ENTIRE REMOTE) AND WITH DUAL TUNER PIP, IT GIVES ME ALL THE OPTIONS I NEED TO PROPERLY (AND CONVENIENTLY) SET UP MY FAIRLY COMPLEX HOME THEATER. THE ERGONOMICS ARE SUPERIOR TO ANY OF THE OTHER SETS I AUDITIONED AS IS THE PICTURE. THIS OF COURSE IS A VERY SUBJECTIVE OPINION-GO CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF. FOR THE FEATURES VS. PRICE ($850) I FOUND NOTHING BETTER. GOOD JOB TOSHIBA.

UPDATE

I wouldn't buy this TV again!!! Listen to the reviews and don't even look at these TV's. My was working fine and then the picture started to bow on the sides. I called toshiba and the sent me to 3 different shop to get it fixed. After the repair shop had my TV for over a month they gave it back and it was still broken. Now toshiba wants me to send it back to then again so it can be fixed AGAIN. This is a far cry from good service and quality.
