Review 2 of 18

Price Paid:  $325.00 from Bad Boy ($500 CDN)

Summary:
This is a review of the 27A41.

This is a very nice set for the money. I am very impressed with the picture quality - I think it easily rivals Sony. The S-Video is nice and the tube is near flat which is another plus.

The remote is ok, however I wish more manufacturers would take a look at Samsung's remote before they design theirs.

I was disappointed in the sound. It is very flat and tinny for 5W speakers. I'll have to get a better sound system so I won't have to use the set's speakers.

The menu lacks some features such as colour and sound "profiles". It also lacks some simple things such as the ability to use the tv as an alarm clock. I also miss these features from the Samsung that I had tried out.

The bottom line, however, is that a TVs most important feature is the picture quality and this one is fantastic.

Strengths:
Fantastic picture, S-Video, very flat tube, great value

Weaknesses:
Sound, delay switching channels, menus could have more features

Review 3 of 18

Price Paid:  $299.00 from Best Buy

Summary:
This review is for the 27A41. The picture quality is excellent for DVDs. The colors are fabulous for both regular TV and DVD. The PQ showed alot of compression artifacts for my DirecTV signal however, which along with the WEAK audio system, is why I returned it for a JVC D-Series TV. I think the Sharp I demoed had a better sound system.

Alot of customers such as myself are buying 27" TVs as a secondary set for the basement or bedroom, which do not have surround sound systems, that requires TVs with decent sound (wake up manufacturers). Also the low build quality of the TV set's case is unacceptable.

Strengths:
Toshiba name, above average picture quality

Weaknesses:
Audio is weak, Case is cheaply built

Similar Products Used:
JVC 27D502, Sharp

Review 4 of 18

Price Paid:  $275.00 from Goodguys

Summary:
It's pretty clear by the two posts before mine, the idiot has an unshielded speaker to close to his television! I have no magnitize problem in the "upper left hand corner". The Television was clearly better than the other 27" non-flat screen competition in side-by-side comparisons, and it was less expensive! I've got a DVD hooked up through the companant inputs and it looks wonderful. Also have my video games coming in the s-video input and they look great as well. I couldn't be happier, unless I had a substantialy larger budget.

Strengths:
Price performance ratio

Weaknesses:
None observed

Similar Products Used:
JVC

Review 5 of 18

Price Paid:  $289.00 from Sears

Summary:
The green tint ruined this product for me. I'll keep searching.

Strengths:
Sharp picture

Weaknesses:
Green tennis ball sized tint in upper left corner (see previous post). This is most noticable when the background is white or light colored. I noticed it watching an animated Christmas video were the background was white and static though it can be seen at other times as well.

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
