Review 1 of 4

Price Paid:  $473.00 from Quen City TV

Summary:
My grandson and I set the TV up for my parents and made the minor adjustments for sound, picture, and favorite stations . Set came right out of the box, and I love the picture and sound. It, the picture, is great, looks so clear, I think I could put stick my hand right in the TV. My parents also are quite satisifed with the TV.

Strengths:
Picture quality, size of the set, ease in connecting cables to DVD player and cable reception, sound, easy to understand directions about remote and TV

Weaknesses:
None as of yet.

None

Review 3 of 4

Price Paid:  $530.00 from Digital 1234

Summary:
Totally disagree with previous review. Any new HDTV set requires fine-tuning. I also own a Panasonic 43" rear-projection LCD HDTV set. I've also looked at SONY, SANYO, as well as Samsung HDTV CRTs. Excellent HDTV set for the price. Great picture using component video and DVI to HDMI. Crisp sharp picture with excellent color saturation detail for movies and sports.

Strengths:
Fantastic Picture. Ergonomic with speakers at bottom.

Weaknesses:
Heavy even for a 26" set.

Review 4 of 4

Price Paid:  $489.00 from Volutone

Summary:
I made the mistake of buying the Toshiba 26HF85 TV from a distributor without seeing the picture first. I wanted HD and progressive scan. This seemed a cool little unit. When I got it home I found I could not adjust the contrast enough to get a decent picture. I had to crank the brightness up all the way to get any kind of resolution in shadows. Then all the figures on screen seemed blasted by light. And with this much brightness the tube life will be drastically shortened. I called Toshiba and they put me onto an authorized repair center. I left it with them and they reported that the contrast indeed could be adjusted – just not very much. It seemed an okay Toshiba to them. I called Toshiba again and they said if I didn’t like the picture then I should return the TV. I took it back to the distributor and they said the lousy picture was within Toshiba’s specs. I noticed they had a Toshiba plasma display which had a similar picture – blasted bright with murky shadows and dull colors. I guess this is Toshiba’s idea of a good picture. Yikes! I left the TV with the distributor. They’re charging me $50 to return it. A small price to pay to get rid of this piece of junk.

Strengths:
Nice design. Good remote.

Weaknesses:
Terrible picture.

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
