Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $240.00 from Best Buy

Summary:
I agree with most of the comments of the other two reviewers. My TV is actually a 2005 model AF45C. This one is NOT capable of displaying progressive scan as mentioned by one of the other reviewers. The buzzing noise is horrible and frankly unacceptable to me. Also, it uses 105 watts, more power than most other 20 inch TVs (85 watts RCA and 65 watts Sanyo) and adds too much heat to a small room in summer. Also, the particular TV I bought displays a constant vertical watermark line on the left side of the screen which I think is a manufacturing flaw. Best Buy took it back but they seem to think the problem is with my cable so they are re-selling the TV at a discount as an open item (they do this sort of thing in Toronto, Canada).

Strengths:
-good picture -good sound

Weaknesses:
-buzzing noise -energy hog (105 watts) -no TV/inputs buttons physically on TV -menu controls not user friendly (for example, color and sound adjustments are from 0 to 64, not 0 to 100)

Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $225.00 from Futureshop

Summary:
We needed another TV for the bedroom and after some research I decided on the 20AF44. This has to be one of the best 20" TV's you can get picture and feature wise. Even with a poor source the picture is great, lot's of inputs including component and s-video, a headphone jack in front, backlit remote, progressive scan, I like the 16/9 button on the remote this is something that even my XBR lacked. you'll have hard time finding another 20" that beats this for the price.. I price matched at future shop for sears's clearance price of $229 canadian. My only gripe is the buzz these make. you woulden't notice in a living room or noisy apartment probably but in our bedroom it's quite silent and it was the first thing we noticed after the little one went to bed and things quieted down. the next day I started searching the net trying to figure out if I had a bad one or if they were all like this and it seemed like very few poeple complained so I exchanged it for another, plugged it in, same thing. I also held my ear up to the tube in the store to a couple and they ALL do it. It's really a shame because it would be quite flawless. over the years I've owned several sony's including 2 27" trinitrons, a 27" wega, my 36" HS500 (XBR tube), and some others not worth mentioning. But this Toshiba is the ONLY one that buzzed. I will keep this TV but next time I will definitely pay the premium and go back to SOny for my TV needs.

Strengths:
Great picture, progrssive scan, lot's of inputs, headphone jack.

Weaknesses:
Annoying BUZZ from rear of set

Similar Products Used:
Sony Wega, wega xbr, trinitron...

Review 3 of 3

Price Paid:  $200.00 from Best Buy

Summary:
I use the S-Video connection with left/right channel RCA jacks from my Sony-DTV receiver to feed this beauty. The picture quality is rich and sharp and the audio is very clean. I also considered the Sony Wega but a friend bought one and immediately had problems with bad video input connectors though the rest of the TV looks fine. I also have a 36” Toshiba which has performed flawlessly for two years so I was confident with Toshiba’s build quality.

Strengths:
Flexible input choices, great picture and sound, quality of build.

Weaknesses:
No front panel TV/Video and Menu buttons. (Don’t loose the remote)

Similar Products Used:
Tried Apex 20" model last year and took it back.
