Price Paid:  $700.00 from Circuit City

Summary:
This TV is a piece of Sh@$! It never worked right from the get-go. For starters, there had always been an annoying delay waiting for the picture to come up when powering on the TV. Shutting down the TV was always a labored effort, accompanied by some unsettling electric-type sounds. There was a similar effect seen when switching between video sources….. never a smooth transition. Although I found this to be unusual, I could not be certain that this was not normal for this model TV. However, this was merely an omen of what was to soon come. After having the TV for just over a year, it would not turn on one day!! I unplugged it for 24 hours and tried again. Much to my surprise, it worked, although the TV was still up to it's familiar antics. This problem was recurring for a period of a couple weeks, until one day the TV would not turn off!!! I had to unplug the unit once again, and now it will not turn on. Philips will not honor their warranty because I am just a couple months outside the warranty period. Apparently they don't expect their products to last for more than a year. The extended warranty should not be necessary after such a short period of time! I will never buy another Philips Product again, and I recommend you all do the same!

Strengths:
nice picture

Weaknesses:
what good is a nice picture if you can't get the TV to turn on!!

Magnepan Magneplanar MG 1.6 User Review

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
