Strengths: Fantastic picture! On screen menus so easy to use. Conservative looks better for some users compared with the silver Wegas.Weaknesses: Sound quality is mid range, but who cares when you add a complete digital sound system for DVDs. Some might like the Wega techno look better.Bottom Line: Excellent picture, easy to use, no problems. I love this TV. In fact the first year I had it I would comment so often to my wife how good a certain show or DVD looked on this TV she got sick of it. My system includes a Panasonic DVD player hooked up with S Video since this early model DVD did not have component level outputs. The TV however has a plethora of audio and video, s video, and component outputs. I also compared Wega with this, and it came out even but less $300!
My system consists of the TV, a Panasonic DVD, first gen model, Infinity IL25 center, Infinity IL30 towers, Infinity Sterling bookshelf rears, Sony STR611 Pro Logic Receiver ( updating to Harman Kardon AVR520 ) DVD picture quality is unsurpassed, crystal clear and lifelike beyond my expectations.

Strengths: Everything about it.Weaknesses: Lack of Composite Video InputsBottom Line: I have owned this product for almost two years. It has been an excellent TV to this point. In fact, other than the lack of composite Video Inputs, this TV has absolutely no flaws. The reason that I purchased the TV was because I had recently bought a DVD player. I just had to have a TV that was large enough to appreciate the superior quality of the DVD picutre. The audio system soon followed. The picture was amazing the day that I bought it, and is just as amazing today. A paused DVD looks like a professionally taken photograph. It is amazing. In addition, the on-screen menu is very easy to learn and use.
When I was in the market to buy a TV two years ago, I compared a large number of TVs. At that point the Sony Wega was relatively new and everyone, including sales personel at all the stores, raved about it. However, I compared the Panasonic to the Sony side-by-side, and found that the Panasonic had a much warmer, more realistic picutre than the Sony. Don't get me wrong, the Sony had an excellent picture as well. But, when you looked at the $200-300 difference in price, there was no way the Sony was a better value.
To this day, I still walk through the Home Theater section ocasionally and see that the picture on this TV is as good or better than any of the TVs in that price range today. It gives you a good feeling to have purchased a product that peforms as good as the day you bought it and can compete with similar new products two years later. I recommend if anyone has the opportunity to get their hands on this TV now, but it.

Strengths: Good Value, excellent picture using s-video inputs, 4 sets of inputsWeaknesses: red push in NTSC decoder, no front panel s-videoBottom Line: I have had this TV for over 2 years now and are very happy with it thus far. It could use some color decoder calibrating, but that is my only complaint with its performance. It has an excellent 3D digital comb filter for a TV in this price range, I even noticed a little sharper picture using the filter with s-video jacks. These are my current settings that I am very pleased with.
- brightness - 32
- color - 31
- tint - 28
- picture - 20 ( with this picture setting I am able to get less than 4% overscan all the way around)
- color temperatue - warm (I read that this is the closest setting to 6500K on the gray scale)
I recommend this product for those of you like me that needed a good direct view 32" (not too pricey)TV till HDTV becomes readily available.

Strengths: See my earier review 12/1/00Bottom Line: I said in back in Dec the TV needs some tweaking to get the best picture. I purchased a Video Essentials DVD. This disc helps you calibrate both Surround sound audio and the video.
The DVD tells that TV manufactures put the presets to where the picture looks good in a showroom with bright harsh light.
Now I never have seen a better picture than what is TV shows right now.
Here is how the final settings look. your results could vary depending on room color and average brightness conditions.

picture 18 I know this seems very low but trust me.
sharpness 14
All the auto adjustments urned on.

Strengths: High Contrast, black is black, bright colorsWeaknesses: Geometry and focus is not perfet on edges.
Bottom Line: This CRT is not suitable VGA computer graphic BUT has the best contrast and color quality I have ever seen to date in a CRT.
It is ideal for DVDs and Digital TV.
The geometry imperfection can be noticed when a rectangular shape occupies most of the CRT (e.g. Satellite receiver menu).
Sound: I have used it as center channel... even with an high pass of 150hz it sounds boomy.
