from The Brick Summary: Looks good. I just set up the unit. Very simple, to set up, as there aren’t many features other than the standard colour, tint, brightness. It has component inputs and one s-video input on the back. I’m wiring the sound through my amp so I can’t comment on the sound quality. I even has a 1/8th” jack on the front panel for head phones along with rca input for video and left and right audio.
The unit was on sale, regular $470.00. Assembled in Mexico. I’m going to assume the internal boards are manufactured in China, hence the low price. I’ll see how long it lasts.
I would call this a standard TV from a brand name. The people's television. That's why I'm giving this a 4 out of 5. If it was made in Japan, US, Canada it would have been given a 5/5. I'm sceptical I'll get 10-15 years of normal use from this unit. Time will tell.
If you want a value brand name TV, this one looks like a good choice.- Strengths: A value TV from a brand name. Simple TV operation and set up for those looking for this type of thing. If I wanted high quality picture and components I would have spent double the cash. Weaknesses: Flesh tones appear a little white when playing from my DVD. The menu controls don't do much for this, however I'm not complaining due to the price. Similar Products Used: Sony KV27V15 and another Sony Trinitron 27 inch manufactured 1997.
