Review 1 of 56

Price Paid:  $299.00 from Best Buy

Summary:
Usually sharp picture and great colors, but frequently part of the left side of the screen has a bluish tint and also a brownish tint on the right side of the screen. Mainly noticeable in black and white programs such as the History Channel and old movies, or light colored areas of color programs. I have digital cable, so it's not the antenna. Took it to a Panasonic authorized repair shop, but apparently it wasn't acting up then, so they said there was nothing wrong with it. I should have taken a color photo of the bluish screen and brought it with me.

Strengths:
Great picture and colors most of the time. Good sound.

Weaknesses:
Bluish tint on left side of screen. 90-day warranty is pretty short.

Summary:
This is a very good TV and I would recommend it for anyone. I am a casual user and it works great. I have had no problems at all with it. It is very easy to use as well.

Strengths:
Lots of inputs. Almost has a receiver built in. Easy to use. Great picture and sound.

Weaknesses:
none that I can think of

Review 3 of 56

Price Paid:  $400.00 from sears

Summary:
I am satisfied with the overall picture BUT, after I read some of the reviews I started to notice how my satellite guide was waving in on the sides, and how a lot of colour is pulled off the side. Also the left side of the TV is a greenish colour and the right side is more red. I am considering taking the set back and maybe try a Sony.

Strengths:
Good overrall picturer, good menu, remote, lots of video inputs

Weaknesses:
geometry problems, convergence, geen and pink bands

Review 4 of 56

Price Paid:  $325.00 from Best Buy Co.

Summary:
In the store, I was impressed at the richness of the picture quality of this Panasonic CT-27D11, especially compared to other TVs in (and even above) this price range. Now that I've had a week to play with the set, I am bothered by several problems.

First: the picture tilts downward to the left by several degrees. This is VERY obvious when watching a letterboxed show or movie, and also with news tickers.

Second: I am also experiencing the pin cushion problem, but really this is only noticeable upon watching a DVD and reducing the zoom to to a smaller size -- you can then see how the picture bows slightly like this: ) ( .

Third: The picture SIGNIFICANTLY overscans the viewing area. Again, this is VERY obvious when you reduce the zoom on a letterboxed DVD and see how much image is STILL being cut off on the left and right. It's also obvious on a DVD set to the standard TV ratio. When reduced, it becomes apparent that you are losing picture on all four sides of the TV screen.

I have not yet decided if I will return this TV for another model. It is a real shame that there are no controls to fix these basic picture geometry issues, as these are standard controls on any computer monitor, and this would be the ONLY reason I would consider returning this otherwise excellent TV.

Strengths:
Rich color and clean contrast. Component video-in. S-video in. Front and rear 1/4 input jacks.

Weaknesses:
Basic screen geometry problems and no way to adjust them.

Review 5 of 56

Price Paid:  $380.00 from bestbuy

Summary:
Let me preface this review by stating that I am a perfectionist when it comes to audio/video components. Having disclosed this fact, just as others I have read on this site, I wanted to like this TV. The color picture is outstanding, it has a good remote, and I look the audio out features (you can select variable, fixed, or none while the TV remains hooked up to the receiver).
HOWEVER.....it may just be me, but I can not get beyond this geometry thing! I usually watch a lot of news and sports, and once I noticed how slanted the news and sports tickers were I could not keep the problem from bugging the __________ out of me. The problem seemed to be isolated to the very bottom of the picture, and I could not notice any problem whatsoever when there was no writing on the bottom of the TV screen.
The sad thing is I may not have noticed it to the degree I did had I not read about it on this website. I took the TV back and got the Toshiba 27A51 which has less features but a more precise picture (and cheaper price). If you would be bothered by slanted writing at the bottom of the TV screen, you may want to look at other TV's.

Strengths:
features, remote, user friendly, color picture quality

Weaknesses:
geometric design flaw!!!!
