Review NaN of , from San Diego

Price Paid:  $2000.00 from The Good Guys

Summary:
I didn't used to care for video, with the whole dvd revolution that changed. When I found this T.V. I fell in love! The styling, build quality, sound quality, and ultimately the picture itself are unsurpassed in this class. I was using it in conjunction with a dvdo i-scan plus scaler through its high scan vga input and then it wasn't fair. The only problem was you couldn't adjust the aspect ratio at that point. But, when watching an anamorphic widescreen dvd it proved to be the best picture to date that I have seen. I can't say enough good things about the set.

Strengths:
Picture, styling, build quality, remote

Weaknesses:
no aspect ratio adjustment on vga input
no progressive component input

Similar Products Used:

monster mphts 5000
Technics DVDA10N

Review NaN of , from scotland

Price Paid:  $1700.00 from glasgow

Summary:
superb all rounder, sounds fantastic and looks great.I have hooked this through my teac 300 system and listening and watching music channels is a joy to behold.
One small problem is the cabinet, that comes with the planus has to be slightly opened when flicking through my digi box channels,as I have this housed inside the cabinet, but I can live with this.

Strengths:
Looks,picture and sound

Weaknesses:
Cabinet problem I mentioned in my summary

Purchase Price above is in Aussie dollars!!

After agonising over whether to purchase a Xelos or Planus i finally decided on the graphite Planus.
The styling and sound (i am not planning to hook up a sound system to this set) were the clinched.

Review NaN of , from Boston, MA USA

Price Paid:  $1500.00 from Ensemble/Fidelis-salem nh

Summary:
i just purchased the set and have owned it for 2 days...let me tell you those two days have been delightful. the coloring and sound when hooked up to the arcam dv88 is unreal. Movies will never be the same. Watching Michael Jordan's IMAX dvd was amazing. Larger and Crisper than I have ever seen him before. James Taylor, DMB, and Kenny Loggins sounded incredible...I have no complaints. This setup was worth every hard earned dollar!!!! Cheers!

Strengths:
overall look, picture, size, 16x9

Weaknesses:
remote,slow warming up

Review NaN of , from Anaheim, CA

Price Paid:  $1500.00 from Good Guys

Summary:
This is by far the best TV I own. I'm using cable to watch TV programs and the upconversion is great. It produces clear, vivid, & bright pictures. Format 16:9, 4:3, Panorama and Cinema are very useful. Sound is better than the Wega with different DSP. But to top it all, every bit about this unit can be tweaked. If you want to use the VGA input, you must set it up by calling Sensory Science/SonicBlue for support, otherwise, you will not see the connection settings.
Hook up your DVD to component video is great. The CV input can only accept interlace signals, so if you have a progressive DVD this will not work. Instead, spend another $170 for the transcoder DVT-100 which converts CV to VGA is worth it. Using the VGA input (accepts: 480i, 480P, 1080i at 31.5 to 60 Hz)to watch DVD is the ultimate viewing experience. It's very realistic watching movies like Final Fantasy, Cats and Dogs and Star Wars. Though I have not tried DTV/HDTV, for right now, I'm very satisfied with my setup.

My setup:
Loewe Planus
Sony STRDA 777ES
Toshiba SD9200 Progressive Super Color Stream
Polk RM7500 satellite speakers
Polk PSW650 & JBL PB12 Sub Woofers
Sensory Science DVT100 transcoder
Monster Cable (video & audio)

Strengths:
Upcoverts interlace signal to digital progressive. Lots of functions, menu driven, bright, vivid colors, & on line help.

Similar Products Used:
Sony 36" Wega.
