Review 3 of 20

Price Paid:  $495.00 from Sears

Summary:
I purchased the JVC AV-32D303 recently and had the same problem with black discoloration in the upper right corner of the screen. It was really noticable when changed to the blue "input" screen. I actually fixed the problem on my own. The trick is to unplug the TV for several hours (I did it overnight) and then plug it back in. All TVs automatically degauss (demagnetize) when turned on. This process is more effective when unplugged for a while, as power is still provided to the TV when plugged in, even when turned off. Once I did this, the black discoloration was gone! This TV and sounds amazing. I would definitely recommend this model to anybody. I don't think paying an extra $100 for the AV-32D503 is necessary, as this model already rocks.

Strengths:
Great picture (watching Shrek it looks hi-def!) Great sound (30+ volume setting watching The Matrix is incredible!)

Weaknesses:
Initial discoloration due to magnetism, easily fixed though (not sure if caused by items placed next to it in storage, etc.)

Review 4 of 20

Price Paid:  $870.00 from Future Shop

Summary:
When I read the newest reviews, I thought Safooma was just unlucky or imagining things, but incidently, on the AV303 model, he is absolutely right in the discoloration. I only have a small spot of it on the lower left, but it was there the minute I started using the tv. I probably won't bring it back since it's not very noticeable unless the color is light and for watching Dvd's, it won't matter since most are widescreen. The tv looks great, but I find that the remote is of rather poor quality, it looks like a 15$ remote you can buy at any electronic store. It does the job, but it looks bad and I dislike the placement of the buttons on it.

Strengths:
Same as everyone else

Weaknesses:
Remote Discoloration for no reason

Review 5 of 20

Price Paid:  $549.00 from Circuit City

Summary:
I bought this TV after receiving a Christmas bonus in 2001. So far we've really enjoyed it. After 8 months with the TV, I still believe it was the best buy for the buck. The remote is easy to use. The only small issue I have is the display feature for channel and time. It's either always on or always off. The channel displays when surfing up and down but not the time. I guess I got used to with a Zenith I had. Overall it's a great tube.

Strengths:
Easy to setup. Multiple inputs (including component video and front input).

Weaknesses:
No option to display time when surfing the channels

No, you can’t always get what you want. The number of loudspeakers surpassing the cost of a decent family sedan is staggering. Then there are speakers that cost as much as a house.
