Price Paid:  $9500.00

Summary:
This is an outstanding projector, especially at the price. Not being a prof'l installer, I was pleased with how easily it was installed, aimed, focussed and converged. The picture has excellent color and detail. I should add that I have a dedicated A/V room, with a monster 144" diagonal screen. The screen is a Vutec with 1.3 gain. I was especially pleased that the DWIN has the brightness and resolution to deal with this large of a screen.

The included ceiling mount provided adequate range of movement, and was simple to install. This is an additional cost benefit of the DWIN: most CRT projectors do not come from the manuf. with mounts.

I'm driving the DWIN with a Focus Enhancements Quadscan, rather than the usual Dwin Transcanner. With this combination, I've am currently running XGA in 4:3 mode as a start. I will experiment with other resolutions/formats as things progress. At This resolution, the Quadscan produces a somewhat soft image, not a reflection on the DWIN's capabilities. Signal sources include Dish 500, Denon DVD deck, and Sony VCR.

Strengths:
Price/performance, quiet, ease of installation

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
