Summary:
My old Mits HDTV died during the NBA playoffs this year, so I have been in the market for a replacement all summer. I was looking at a Sharp Aquos 52", but after doing some research I was leary about the unit (54/55 series). I had brought my wife a new laptop from dell for school when I saw this Vizio listed on their site. Again I went online to do my research on this unit and was surprise to find very little. It shares the same spec as the XT model which is the Flag ship unit for 09 and Dell had it for sale $100 below everyone else. While doing more research I found a promo code for another $100 off the price, so that was the deal maker for me.

Once this unit arrived (very big box) and set up, I clicked on the remote and the wow factor kicked in. I had my cable HD box set to ESPN and the game that was on was crisp detail and the color depth was very deep. I had not even made any adjustments to the unit at this point and viewed several HD channels with the same wow factor as the first. I have my system running though my Pioneer Elite VSX 81TXs via HDMI output to the Vizio, So all of my analog(Composite/S-video/Componets) connections are converted to digital output. I played my Pioneer Elite DV 45a DVD player to see the results and again I can not make any bad remarks on this unit. I viewed SW1 and Quatrum of Solace, on SW1 the picture was very clean, to the point that I could tell when CGI backgrounds were being used vs real backdrops. In the James Bond flick, its was pure enjoyment, deep blacks, color depth was spot on. I know that this is a great transfer onto DVD and look great on my old Mits too. The real test of this unit will be when my Blu Ray player comes in next week.

Pros: Best bang for the buck for a 120Mhz motion unit, very classy look (gloss piano black), Very accurate color right out of the box and enough connections to make anyone satisfied

Cons: Remote control, not a learning remote, not backlit, controls not easliy transfer to another remote

Marantz MA-9S2 Reference Series Power Amplifiers Review

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

A new driver from Lowther is real news. A new five inch driver is even rarer news, so it was with great anticipation that I waited on this pair of speakers to arrive.

Aune Mini Headphone DAC User Review

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
